Re: Where did you surf today ?

There's two at amity at the moment . $290 pwk and $300 pwk http://www.straddiesalesrentals.com.au/rent That's only a short drive to point lookout. Or there's the myora caravan park at Dunwich. Not sure how much swell there was on the goldy yesterday but the outer banks of main beach about a klm down...

Re: Single fin shortboards

Yep. You gotta let single fins do their thing. Feel the wave out, don't try and force your agenda on the board or the wave. Let the board and wave be boss and follow along They're simple and neutral but also really unforgiving if your Timing and positioning is even slightly out. There's no quick way...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Do they have rentals over there, or can you only buy? Not many rentals. https://m.realestate.com.au/rent/in-point+lookout%2c+qld+4183/list-1?includeSurrounding=false&adcall=0 Though you could probably scratch something up for accommodation on air BnB or flatmates dot com. If you're happy enough to ...

Re: Single fin shortboards

It's great. Blue ribbon board for blue ribbon waves. Haven't had the chance to fully put it through its paces yet. But have had it in quality points and reefs and some very clean walled up beachies - all up to about four foot. It's not a top to bottom board, doesn't like fat waves. Absolutely loves ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Pulled the top bun off stuff it with chips. Smashed that. Then ate the rest of the burger layer after layer. You'd have needed a hippos head to eat it normal I could easily get used to living over there. Sell up, buy a place over there and just get on the welfare and pleb out big time. claw back som...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Holy shit what a day. Surfed frenchmans at consistent chest to head high with some bigger sets. Nice shaped peak to take off on, with a walled up pockety bowl to let loose on. Some of them you could take off behind the peak, come off the bottom then straight into a carve off the top, drop back into ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Not sure of the veracity of story though I heard back in the 80's-90's there was a Filipino bride racket running over there. Marketed to the brides-to-be with the allure of "life on a tropical island setting" etc. Also overrun with bikers and drug dealers. Pretty dodgy place apparently

Re: Where did you surf today ?

No. My mate picked up that old board from a fella that lives on russelll island who came over on the ferry and dropped it off.

I can't think of any reason I'd want to go to Russell island. It's just full of bogans and mosquitoes isn't it?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Possibly? Mate just said it's from the Mornington peninsular. That's all I know of it. It's around 6'2. Flat bottom, with the slightest vee out the tail.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yes yes. We've been thru this ad infinitum. The far NSW coast gets the trade swells plus the south swells. But it has its limits - way less options when it's big (central to south coast there's plenty) - way less options in mixed conditions (central to south has a much more varied coastline) - far N...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

If I lived on the goldy instead of surfing a mini Malibu 7% of the time, I'd be surfing it more like 30% of the time, maybe more.

Because much smaller waves on average and crowd control.

And I'd plaster it with mad hueys stickers.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

yeah but plenty more overhead days in the southern half of NSW, and places that better handle size. Plus we got reefs.

If I had constant free time Monday to Friday (not working, just surfing) then the preferred choice would be to relocate south of jervis bay, not SEQ/far NSW
