Re: Where did you surf today ?

Port Macquarie would be throughly depressing. Lighthouse and town beach can get some pretty decent surf. But you certainly wouldn’t want to live there. The whole place has the vibe of an open air RSL.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Mid-north end Maroubra. Chest to head high. Fairly lumpy and sluggish but plenty waves coming through and some turns to be had.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Wollongong region. First session was a thumpy chest to head high. Some good peaky ones amongst it, but also lots of washy shutdowns. Best show was put on by an older cronulla surfer, the shaper of carverley surfboards. His board was a wide point forward midlength with a pulled in pintail and twin fi...

Re: Midlengths

7.2 is a fair bit of board, go smaller for an all rounder. That review. I’ve never had a bonzer that “tracks”. yeah, i'd be going something like 6'8 x 21 x 2 3/4. for head high to DOH. punchy beachbreaks, reefs, points. longer rail i'd only use for knee to shoulder high or bigger than DOH. otherwis...

Re: Midlengths

Yeah I think I’m gonna get one. 6’8 bonzer egg with knifey rails. Should cover a lot of conditions and suit my style of surfing pretty well.

This review sounds like what I’m after.

Re: Midlengths

Looks good toots.

The 6’10 rabbidge 2+1/single was ideal when I was 78, not 89kg. Its feeling like i need more foam now, as the 2 5/8 thick with a rolled deck and low rail feels a bit boggy at times.

Re: Midlengths

Sounds ideal. I’ve always been more about speed and flow (rather than short arc snappiness) anyway.

psillakis on the NBs shapes them under license. might be time to hock a few boards and get a custom. Dense blank with volan or s-cloth it should last ok.

Re: Midlengths

Toots. How’s your bonzer egg go ? That seems pretty ideal. Nothing too corky but. Knifey rails so you can keep it on rail.

Re: Midlengths

No. But don’t really see anything particularly mini mal looking about it. At 6”8 it looks more like a well balanced and versatile (longer) shortboard with an elliptical planshape and rounded pin. Longer rail, ellipse, rounded pin, thruster, vee bottom, moderate rocker, etc. it appears to tick many b...

Re: Midlengths

Instore in gerringong for $530. Here’s more on the tech.

https://www.torq-surfboards.com/epoxy-technology.html

To me, the shape of the board itself looks tasty. well balanced, instantly relatable and familiar.

But I’d be skunked if it surfed like a tuflite. Very tempted but.

Re: Midlengths

This is pop out looking but seems to be a decent shape. https://www.torq-surfboards.com/fun-68.html 6’8” x 21” x 2 3/4” And only $530 https://www.naturalnecessity.com.au/collections/torq-surfboards/products/torq-tet-funboard-surfboard Is the construction any good? It’s epoxy but hopefully not tuflit...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Just checked it. Elliptical planshape with rounded pin and 2+1 set up. Should cover a good size range. Would’ve been ideal where I surfed this morning. Shifting take off zone, paddle hard, get in early and cover ground.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Well there were two South East Asian chaps out in the line up. However both sounded about as blue collar Aussie and south coast strine as you can get.

“Jeez maate, aren’t ya fuggin cold in boardeez”?

So yeah, policy seems to be working well.
