Re: Where did you surf today ?

Voodoo 3-4 foot on the new freeflight single. Not perfect out there but still plenty coming through.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Can’t quite get my head around sawtell being a more consistent spot with better surf than the south coast.

Mostly beach breaks vs hugely varied coastline of beaches, coves, reefs and points that can accomodate all types of swells, size, wind and swell directions.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I was also going to mention the occasional six foot wave but kinda wanted to play it humble. and even showed great restrain in not mentioning the amount of spare carparks.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Second go out again at the farm. Swell thickened a little but got inconsistent. Got a nice inside bowl that I managed to carve a few turns on. Board’s feeling great

My feeling is that Cronulla is underrated. I think it may be the best area to surf in Sydney.
It is. No question.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The farm 4 foot. Took the new freeflight single fin channel bottom out for a test run. Marginal conditions for its intended purpose, but could feel the potential of what’s to come. Easy board to surf, nothing new to try and figure out. Just that familiar line drive single fin feel but definitely som...

Re: Single fin shortboards

Ok. Just spoke to Phil Myers. He suggested a specific fin based on his board. Only 7” because the channels provide extra grip. But wide base and heaps of rake. $89.95 just ordered it. https://surfeclipse.com.au/sample-freeflight-7.html https://i.postimg.cc/qBjJmzL6/C91968-B2-CD20-4-F16-B046-31-B01-B...

Re: Single fin shortboards

Not sure. Didn’t ask them or Phil (actually spoke to him this morning and didn’t think to ask about fin). Will see how that one goes. If not, I’ve also got others, including a Wayne Rich power 8.5” that I’m currently using in my old seventies downrailer https://www.trueames.com/products/wayne-rich-p...

Re: Single fin shortboards

Nah it’s a 9” volan flex fin shaped a while ago by Trevor hewston (huie on RS). Think he was about the first shaper ever on the Sunshine Coast

Thanks for the heads up. Though located Burleigh, same price as new FF, and I’ve heard the indo(?) made ones for sideways are decent.

Re: Midlengths

After selling off a couple of boards I’ve got more than enough cash to just go drop it on a stock 7’0 freeflight single six channel. If I’m after something around the 7”0 mark that’ll eat 6-8 foot anyway, so it could be very thing. Besides, I’m more than comfortable on a straight single without the ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I started at Stanny, which showed loads of promise- solid 3 sets and plenty of peaks, but the wind started howling and the backwash thing happened, so I jumped in the car and got to that place that rhymes with Neddies. One very nice bodyboarder and myself for two hours with some awesome little nugg...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

2-3 foot easterly swell fanned by a too-strong offshore wind. Fun, but frustrating at times.
