Re: Kettlebells

I'm 58 soon and lifted weights all my life, firstly for footy and then just to keep going. Last 12 months my popup has been that split second slower, enough to get me to move further to the shoulder than risk a late drop. Burpees seem to have solved the problem, lots of 'em. I think it's the explosi...

In the City to Surf a few years ago I saw one bloke in a chicken suit and another bloke dressed as an egg. Sorry to tell you this Nick but the chicken came first.

Showman, that board looks sensational. Can you tell me a bit more about it and who is JD?

And the point I am making is that you appear to have some concealed hostility toward all of these women, and you might want to have a look at that.[/quote]
I think you're reading a bit too much into this.

Which 2 Kardashian sisters would you like to see take on each other in a fight to the death, and why?
Best question ever! Secretly film them fighting over dad's high heels and turn it into a reality show. 50 cent can promote it and slo-mo replays cost extra.

Re: Ask Carroll

He sounds like me, except for the fit and good swimmer bit. As an aficionado of boards for incompetent surfers, whereas Nick probably doesn't pay much attention to them, may I suggest (limiting to the big manufacturers): a 7S (any of them but esp the superfish), a Firewire Addvance (or maybe domina...

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick, why is it that opinionated women on the telly, ( usually aging ex Cleo editors clinging on by the skin of their teeth ) always harp on about body image problems associated with the glamourisation of gorgeous models and actresses but on the other hand, admonish those who hand it out to hideous...

no seals in Ballina so throw that one out the window. Plenty of walruses though. http://resources1.news.com.au/images/2013/10/16/1226740/981901-four-in-ten-aussies-dangerously-fat-study.jpg Yes well the Richmond River does go up as far as Lismore... Re: Ask Carroll

Sorry Nick, I meant a grip on the deck rather than a tailpad. I've seen some made of what appears to be a very firm neoprene but they look a bit heavy and could possibly sand your nipples off. They look terrible as well.

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick, Have you ever used a deck grip? I know they're usually terrible things but I've been working on inventing a good one for years and I think I'm close. Would you ever use one if it was at least as grippy but way more durable than wax or do you think it's just one of those things that is never go...

Re: Ask Carroll

Some surfers seem to make a very swift leap through these levels and layers of surfing skill. I think this is usually because they have some really surf-friendly stuff in their physical makeup. My friend Simon Buttonshaw would see some people do Yoga and say they had a "fortunate body", I think thi...

Nick, do you know anything about Himalayan salt lamps? A club! Brilliant idea for two reasons. It will:
a) Legitimise the sport and
b) Provide a forum for members to brag about their exploits.
This club would be way more beneficial to middle aged sporting drivers than any stupid wellness spa or Himalayan salt lamp.

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick, as I'm now well into my 50's the only competitive sport I'm involved in is trying to keep expensive European imports from merging into my lane on Military Rd. Even though I drive a Hiace van (manual gearbox) I consider myself an Olympian in this event and have about an 80% win rate. Do you con...
