Re: princess margaret river pro

ADS has much better style these days.
Next time he paddles inside you at Greenmount, watch the way he constructs a wave.
You may lapse into a coma through the sheer predictability of every turn, but you will have to concede the man can surf.

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more

That board is currently unfinished I am rushing to get it done by Friday so I can take it away for a week camping on North Straddie. The outline is based on a template I took from Mactavish Tracker and I changed the tail to a rounded pin, it is pretty flat rockered as it is from a Burford 7'0"...

1.3m?
That's a horse.
They're in the Brisbane River too.

He was at the same place when I went to Tonga in 2003 and was making the young Billabong rippers (apart from Ace) look pretty pedestrian.

Re: princess margaret river pro

Saw Margo surfing the pass a couple of weeks ago, I think.
This solid, slightly out of shape bloke on a small blue semi-fish was inside me for a set, and I thought he was too deep. Gave him the benefit of the doubt and he fcuking shredded it for 300m.

Or get the heat analyzer to work, or have highlights up within an hour of the end of the day?

Whatever it was that Nick said these events cost, it looks expensive.

Just watched the highlights.
How is it that they've managed to build that enormous structure, and the cameraman is still taking footage of the back of people's heads?!

Re: Just general surfing stuff

The main issue, as identified by the suck fridge, is that you need big heavy stuff. Fridge full of sand would've been a tonne and a half or thereabouts, so a good start.
You really need to start at 3 tonnes if there is any energy in the waves and you want it to be there after winter.

Swivel are you willing to unpack your decision?
25 years is a long time, and particularly the last 10 from the sounds of things.

I don't actually expect you to. I certainly wouldn't.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Andy Pitt's stuff? They've done a sand slug at Cronulla, but didn't really monitor it properly and it wasn't a big enough sand dump. There are plans to do something similar, but 10x bigger on the Gold Coast. They need $5+ mill. There was a plan to use a warship off the Goldy, but it turned out to be...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

It's possible to make decent waves, it's just big $$$, so councils won't pay unless the primary objective is protection of prime real estate or river training. And it doesn't work so well on sand or in places with big tidal ranges. The best way to create waves is by putting something offshore to bre...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Bargara is an example of a cheap improvement to a reef. Wasn't strictly (or even remotely) legal, some bloke just went down there at low tide and shifted some rocks. Steve, the Gold Coast has a surf management plan, and a surf council. They struggle to get any interest from the locals, except when B...

What were they, sea lice? I always wanted some, with their little castles and their happy smiling faces! Brine shrimp - Artemis. Amazing animals, they live in cysts that can survive for years without moisture. Used in food in the aquarium/aquaculture industry. I came up with a business plan to grow...
