Re: A month Camping with the famalam East Coast - January

You don't need 4wd for straddie, unless you want to camp at Flinders. Save the money for the ferry.

Re: A month Camping with the famalam East Coast - January

Yeah, for sure.
Just wondering if you were going to get to one of the islands.

At that time of year I would do Straddie and Yamba rather than Sunny Coast and Byron.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Surfed the mid Gold Coast this morning and I had a beautiful little bank to myself. It was turning the 1-2ft windchop garbage into fun little zippers. Like finding an Argyle diamond while shoveling pig shit. I'm not sure if it was a congenital issue or some sort of TBI situation, but the lifeguard d...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

The contracts for drum lines and net operators require them to be cleared every 48 hours at least so it's not all that likely sharks see their captured friends. Do you have any theories about how or why they seem to work? I don't think there's enough evidence yet to say that they do work, tbh.i cou...

Re: A month Camping with the famalam East Coast - January

Sunny Coast is pretty dire for surf and hot in January.
Aim to be near a headland that provides protection from the northerlies.
The northern end is generally better for that.

Is your HiAce 4wd?

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

There's a (pretty good) theory that the whale population has overshot and will start to decline.
You'd expect great whites and orcas to do the same I'd imagine.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Did u see longtard wrote a piece on the grit about the orcas around Ballina atm? The footage and photos are insane. Would never have thought they’d go up that far. They're in the great barrier reef area too. Most people just never see them because they stay of near the shelf. I've seen a huge pod o...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Nick there's a bit of research in the natural hazards field about how people return to risky behaviour within 2 years of severe events. It seems to be a sort of psychological cleansing period, and if nothing too bad happens, or something similar but less severe, we appear to be programmed to just pu...

See I nearly used the word fanciful in my post above, but thought it would be unkind.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Back then I'd have swum swiftly yet langourously to Ursula and whispered softly to her as she clung to me, "It's OK baby, nothing bad's gonna happen to you when I've got ya." Of course omitting to mention the drugs and the anal sex, and the other assorted humiliations that lay in her near future et...

Anyone interested in a NPJ 6’10, similar outline to what was posted by Cranked a couple pages ago. Well used but plenty of life in it. $200 no fins.
How well used? Got a photo?
You got any fins to go with it, BA?

Didn't try, and there weren't any of the regulars' cars at the carpark, there's a big trichodesmium bloom so the baitfish and predators all move offshore.

They also just bought a hiking boot business for 75m. On an acquisition binge. As you say significant debt.
I have a pair of Oboz hiking boots. They're really good. If you can get them on one of the Kathmandu sales they're incredible value.
