Re: Where did you surf today ?
There was a baby bull shark playing in the waves yesterday. Maybe 2ft long. A few of us saw it. We weren't sure what it was but I've just had a look at some pics of bull shark pups and I reckon that's what it was. Wonder where Mum was? Pretty unusual to seea baby bull shark in the ocean. Their bioc...

Re: The Outsider
Historically though, UK and Europe lost access to the commons generations ago. I'm not surprised you can't understand Australians fighting to prevent corporate takeovers of public spaces. The right to roam still exists in many European countries, to a far greater extent than in Australia. The UK is...

All of it, for spending $1100 on a DHD.

Re: General snow stuff
Went to Blue Knob yesterday, it was the first decent hill I've seen on the east coast. Did about 20k feet of vertical, until my neighbour took a spill and hurt himself enough to want to head home, but not seriously. Up to knee deep in the trees, and hardly anyone headed very far off the trails becau...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
By a strange quirk of circumstance I got invited into the corpo tent at Snapper one year. Managed to sneak a couple of others in too. I think that's where I first met Crabmeat. It was a dreadful place to watch from, the view was just of the side of the section after the rock, and the coconut prawns ...

The Pass has got to be one of the easiest places to get a wave in a crowd, if you have any sort of sense about you.steve shearer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 7:35 ambeen so consistent here.
5-800 metre point surf on offer at the Pass every single damn day this summer if you can handle a crowd.
never seen anything like it.

Re: General snow stuff
Yeah it was surprisingly good. Was thinking it might be closer to 20-25 but it really started coming down yesterday evening. The storm moved north faster than expected too, I was going to go south but changed plans. Enough snow that I could get off the fire roads and into the woods on some hiking tr...

Re: General snow stuff
Yeah my most memorable days are getting caught by sluff in Oregon and washed over a cliff, and heading into slack country in Japan to find we were the first for the season and it was a chest-deep hike out. Got above the rain crust today. https://i.postimg.cc/dtFvsMGk/PXL-20210202-170437759.jpg https...

Re: General snow stuff
Did some more meadow skipping today.

The snow was pretty sketchy, with an icy crust in the middle.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
That looks like a really dumb place to build I agree. But the angle of the beach suggests that the wave exposure wouldn't be angled directly at the resort. And it does appear to be a reflective beach, ie steep and less susceptible to erosion. I'd be more worried about flooding/water from the landwa...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I was actually thinking zipless.
I prefer chest zip on spring suits and back zip on steamers, but mainly because o'neill suits fit me best.

Looks grand Steve, perhaps in spring.
Annapolis is a pretty rad little sailing town, lots of hipster cafes and serious money.
I need a new wettie, wherever we go

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Speaking of which, what's the surf like around the end of March down your way offy?
Thinking of heading to the banks.
What sort of wettie will I need?
We were planning a ski trip but the quarantine requirements are pretty restrictive.
