I learnt up at lake tuggrah. bout 45min from my place in hornsby. shallow flat water. Great in a NE/SE in summer. ok in the winter westerlys too.

I had 4 or 5 days up there and was able to kite in the ocean and deal with waves ok now.

http://www.naish-tahiti.com/photos&video.htm think some of these are chopes? some guys have kited at pipe too. Problem is many countries regard kite surfers as small boats I think and here in oz we have to stay 30m away from anyone in the water or surfing. dont think the locals would be to pleased ...

will a different board help me in small surf

im 68kg and about 180cm tall. current board is a a 6'3 thats 18 1/4 wide and 2 1/4 thick I have only been surfing a year or so but im doing quite well. my problem is in smaller fatter waves 1-3' I just can not get any speed. I have to almost nose ride my board just to stand up and then its a matter ...

what do you guys use tyo tie your boards down onto your roof racks?

I have seen some nice fcs staps, but cant find them in the 2 or 3 stores i looked in yesterday.

anyone have a rough idea on price too?

looks like it will be big but offshore? doesnt look like it to me. with a 9-10sec period forcast and strong southlys there wont be to many spots surfable.

paddling out I never bail no matter how worked im getting. bailing and then trying to bloody reel your board in and turn it over in all the currents and whitewash around you takes ages sometimes and makes it loads harder to make it out back big closeout sets are another story though. if you have a nice camera you can get insurance for pretty cheap.

I paid $20 a month a few years ago to insure a UW video camera while i was diving on holidays. Well worth it.
