Re: Rescuing people
Bringing a badly injured or unconscious person back to the beach on a short board is not a piece of cake. This is so true. I once had to rescue a Russian guy who had got himself out the back at Bondi in solid 4 foot swell wearing...wait for it.... a life jacket. Buggered if I could get him on the b...

Re: Thoughts on ZoSea's 'takeover' of the ASP? Nick?
BULLSHIT Kelly didn't know about the deal and details. You are right on Clif. There is no way he didn't know about this or be 100% behind it. One thing is certain is that everyone is confused, from the Australian article: "The ASP saw enough merit in Hardy’s approach to grant his group a period of ...

Re: Thoughts on ZoSea's 'takeover' of the ASP? Nick?
I wonder how valuable the webcast audience is in reality. Unfortunately for 99.9% of the population watching surfing is as about as interesting as watching lawn bowls. I suspect that it's just hard core supporters that bother to watch the webcast and an even smaller percentage of them will actually ...

Re: Thoughts on ZoSea's 'takeover' of the ASP? Nick?
It's interesting to compare how backward surfing is compared to other sports. Say cricket for example. This is my understanding of how it works: - The ACB employ cricketers, pay them a wage, cover insurance for injuries and gives them a pension when they retire - The ACB sells TV rights to a TV stat...

Thoughts on ZoSea's 'takeover' of the ASP? Nick?
http://www.surfermag.com/features/leap-of-faith/ The details are sketchy but just looking at the way this news has broken it looks like amateur hour. Announcements made on the basis of a loose term sheet with no business plan. Surfers promised a "million dollar" pension (whatever that means). Unknow...

Is it ok to deviate from this commentary thread to Khloe's board snapping tanty after losing his heat. That is one determined boy, punched his board several time (it didn't break), stuck his foot into it to try and bust it and succeeded in breaking the back of it but he obviously didn't think he'd d...

Why is the quality of the surfing often inversely proportional to the quality of the music?

Re: getting stuck behind on take off
What you describe we all go through so you ain't alone. I've just come back from a trip to the Mentawis where not making the drop can be a bit scary on a shallow reef. I'm used to surfing beach breaks so I am not used to looking at a coral reef when I'm taking off. The consequence of this was that I...

Re: Teach or enroll my youngfella
Thanks guys. With Owen winning $300k in NY this week maybe there is a financial future in surfing. I'd rather be a poor surfer than have to play tennis for a living!

Teach or enroll my youngfella
I was reading about the Vegemite sponsored surfgroms program. http://www.surfgroms.com/ Seems that they have some classes coming up at the Bra. My youngfella has just turned 7 and I'm super keen to get him into surfing. I've been surfing for 25 years and I'm sure I can teach him but I was thinking t...

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Hiya Josh The Wildcard arrived last night and I was first to hit the water this morning at Bondi's recently created superbank before the super crowd arrived. First wave, a left, came with usual first wave nerves and a front foot toe hold from the new legrope that you sent. A bit wobbly on the takeof...

Re: J Bay Pro - No Dane
Without debtating the rights and wrongs of Kelly or Dane - isn't this more of an indication of how crap the ASP has become. They are just not adapting with the times (surfline wrote a good article about this a couple of days ago). Maybe pro surfing has to be more mobile chasing swells and epic surfs...
