Re: Vids or more to the point biopics

I just downloaded the Kerrazy Kronicles for free (thanks Rusty). Have to say, I was prepared to be bored to death by an endless amount of air reverses. But there was a good variety of moves in a variety of waves, from onshore Macaronis to heaving Pipe. Pretty impressed actually.

Re: morocco

Biggun, the waves are absolutely world class. Spent last Feb around the Taghazoute area and it reminded me of SW WA with the reef shelfs and rock/sand pointbreaks. Only thing is, everyone knows about it. Anchors and the waves around that area are incredibly busy most of the time, only thinning out w...

Re: Rip Curl Pro Live Feed

No heat by heat video replays - just a highlight package it seems. Totally unforgiveable.

I'm going to agree with Alby here. Yep, he was overrated if anyone thought he was keeping up with the top pros in the last few years on tour - in waves below six feet that is. I can think of another veteran pro not quite keeping up. Anyone see footage of Sunny at Trestles this year? Sure he's got th...

Gotta love discussion forums, guaranteed to resort to personal abuse within two or three pages. Back to the comp: Looks like Slater continues to be on fire this year. Highest heat score in Round 1. Has to be favourite to take out the comp. I thought the Balo surfer Goga looked a bit out of his depth...

Bali Waves is saying Ulus is to be closed to free surfers for the contest. Not sure if its true, but if it is that's another example of Rip Curl doing a hopelss job of winning over the locals and surfing public. First Tombstones, now Bali. I can't think of any other WCT event (and correct me if I'm ...

Anyone see Jordy Smith in the first heat of Round 1? Didn't find many barrels but went for two backside airs on the end section. Great stuff. I thought Andy's come from behind win was interesting. He only needed a 3.5 or something in the last minute but I wondered if Timmy Rayes could have held him ...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say good on STAB for running this piece. Because it's so long after the event in question there's a little bit of that element of raking over the coals to stir up controversy or publicity, but I still think its better then not touching it. Which is what the res...

Can anyone tell me: how do you watch video of previous days competition?

All I can see is Live/On Demand, but when I click through it just takes me to the live stream (whether the comp is on or not).

I agree, Silverlight is shit. Just watching Round 2 now. Bring back Kelly Slater's experiment I reckon. I just watched the first 30 minute heat with AI and the Tahitian wildcard. AI got the only two decent waves, the rest of the heat was paddling and sitting. So out of 30 minutes there was about 30-...

It's interesting that the surf magazines have been absolutely silent on why Billabong dropped Bede. They've barely acknowledged the issue unless to say Bede is 'without a sponsor'. I suppose it shows how dependent surf mags are on the big three for their advertising dollar - at the expense of us pun...

Just watching the semis now. One foot low tide Mundaka. Snooze.

Why Billabong insists on coming back here each year is beyond me, particularly at such a crucial point of the tour.

What does this say about Billabong for dropping him in the first place? I get the feeling though that the longer he is unsponsored the harder it'll be to get signed. Without the backing of a major he misses out on photo trips, ads in the surf mags etc etc, all of which contribute to his profile drop...

An article on the incident finally appears in the Sydney Morning Herald: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/bra-boys-say-its-ours/2007/07/14/1183833835467.html Pretty bloody weak aticle I reckon. No comment from Rawlins and some very weird quotes from a Bra Boys spokesperson: "This sort of thing ha...

Renting surf spots?

Just caught this via www.surfingthemag.com: http://www.surfline.com/surfnews/surfwire.cfm?id=9761 Surfline has struck a deal with a local Mex community to rent exclusive use of their wave for five days. It's the famous point from last year's Rip Curl WCT event. Surfline says they aim to raise $20,00...

Dunno if 6'9" would be big enough. I heard Pancho being interviewed and he said he needed every inch of his 7'9", but I think that was on the big day. Watching Round 2 now. Not a lot happening in between the rare tube. Has Rip Curl blown it after the sucess of last year in Mex and St Leu the year be...

The original post said that neither Healy or Winny made the barrel, so I'm assuming it was a close out. Either way, is anyone concerned that the Volcom House is becoming a bit of a breeding ground for violence? Or that the presence of Danny Fuller with his video camera might be spurring the fisticuf...
