Classic The Bluff for me.
For years now I spend a half hour or so on a headland waiting for first light to spread across the horizon.
And remember my family’s service.
Then I surf.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Less exotic but im spending a few days in copacobana. Couldn't take a board but there's a decent mid length here that'll do the job. Was hoping for a surf at copa or Avocathis morning but it's pissing down and blowing a gale. Hopefully tomorrow Where my mate John Sojoski lives. Nice spot actually. ...

Re: Injuries Blog
Biggest problem I encountered with a stitched fin cut was going in the water the day after the stitches came out.
It just opened up again.
But it was a high flex point on my instep.

It's a moot point () now because it's pretty much non existent being buried under tonnes of pumped sand, but First Point at Noosa has long been known to the locals as "Pussy Point".
And yes, I've posted this before but it's truly one of the most appropriate place names I've ever heard.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yeah. My point is dangerously crowded these school holidays.
The car park is full before dawn. 🤬
Have to get out there, pick up a few quick ride and get the hell out.

Re: Injuries Blog
What’s the water condition like after the rain? Absolutely filthy for the late. Couldn’t see my feet! He's gonna need to be careful.. Guy up here just lost the lower part of his leg after picking up an infection in dirty water surf. Infection took hold and was uncontrollable within 3 or 4 days.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
It's nice when you get an unexpected surf. Well, unpredicted anyway. Supposedly a northerly all night but I hoped it'd be offshore early and it was. Super high tide and small, short period swell so I figured the spot where we run our comps might work. Had nearly 2½ hours of "baby food" waves. Hoping...

Re: Hernias
I guess I was lucky. The first one was there for years before I asked about it. Not painful just a bulge in the groin. When the second one happened it was the same. The umbilical one was interesting though. I've had this little bubble on the side of the belly button for as long as I can remember. Th...

Re: Hernias
I had my first one done in Brisbane in about 1990. Done on a Friday. Had no discussion with the doc about going back to surfing so I just did. The following Saturday. 8 days. 😳 Pretty sure that was the timing. Next was in Sydney and he stopped me surfing for a couple of weeks. That one used the mesh...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Nothing to do with the hands, at the right resonant frequency the car just starts drifting like on black ice. Absolutely. And the frequency varies by car, by spring and shock rates (and how worn they are). Not to mention the actual gap between each corrugation. Except of course for loofy who no dou...

Re: How is wave height measured in Australia?
*breathes out slowly from the nose* Inconsistency is the sole preserve of those of us who use ‘surfer feet’. It doesn’t need to be accurate because it’s just a ballpark, a suggestion. For the measurement ultras like you and Trev (who can forget his #sixfeetissixfeet campaign) it has to be the actua...
