Re: Just general surfing stuff

He does good work. I will qualify my previous statement a bit. Golden Beach won't immediately get surf or get washed away within 2 years, like some of the local groups think. I had a think through your earlier explanation about the canals and I can see how all the extra water stored in the canals (...

You're bang on, it won't affect Golden Beach.
But further south than I was expecting.
Hope this link works. A USC expert.

Long term, yes.
The canal estates near Trev shifted the tidal prism balance, and the entrance was historically a few hundred metres south.
I thought the canal development was only about 30 years old.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

You're bang on, it won't affect Golden Beach. But further south than I was expecting. There was a washover here a year or two ago and everyone panicked then. There's footage of the Coastguard vessel going out through there yesterday. 2.5m depth right across the channel and nice little lefts and rig...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Is that old coot from Golden Beach still trying to get Council to 'fix' it? There's a few locals calling for the council to fix it. It's fucking National Park you gooses. Nothing to do with council. I get that it'll probably have an impact on the existing channels and sandbanks but I really can't s...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Was there that area just a sand spit previously? Assume the houses are elsewhere or more inland? Yeah. It's never been wider than 300 metres and much less in recent times. About a kilometre south of the Caloundra bar. It's all National Park apart from the southern part where all the development is.

Bribie really is two islands now. Those are jet skis you can see out there although one close up looks like he's carrying a board. Strong ESE so onshore though. https://i.ibb.co/3zsKQwb/Bribie-5.jpg https://i.ibb.co/z21WkMG/Bribie-2.jpg https://i.ibb.co/WxSqqq9/Bribie.jpg https://i.ibb.co/S03qNbP/Br...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Today was one of those days when just one wave makes it all worthwhile.
Caught a few before the crowd arrived in force, but one was an absolute screamer and a bit over 200 metres long.

Well that doesn't equate with their stated size in the above screen shot.
But that chart makes sense.

So.... 2' is head high?

Proof the "modern thinking" of wave size is just stupid wankery.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I really hate foam takeoffs.
The older I get, the harder my popups get.
Doing it in a ball of foam is even harder.
