Re: GRC Designs, tuff flexi, lite! ABS No glass no resin. Huh?

Ive had an ABS board for a year and a half and its great, no big diff to a standard pupe board but I think the newer versions are better. Its physically as light as a standard and like Nick says, its impossible to ding, so I pick the ABS for everyday surf rather than a glassed board. Theres no panic...

Re: Progression in Bodyboarding

When Laird gave them a go I think he was looking at the improvements that came with hydrofoils, because the board was off the water it was not affected by any surface chop so the ride was smoother. It meant he could take on bigger waves and not be battered by the board chattering over the wave. Foil...

Re: Progression in Bodyboarding

I saw Laird doing his foil thing and since then no one has continued on to see if it can be adapted to standard size surf. But other sports have adopted hydrofoils and used them successfully like kayaks, waterskiing, sailing, sailboarding, kitesurfing... http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/SURFFO...

Missing Icon-FAT PENGUIN.

A few years ago an Aussie guy made these really individual boards, not many were sold but they were iconic in their concept and shape. He got slammed at Swaylocks probably as its a mainly seppo site, but I never found out what happened to him or the boards..... Does anyone have a Fat Panguin ? Do yo...

Re: possible changes to bodyboarding section membership

The BB forum here is crap because all the regular He-Men pop in for a spit and tug to feel good. But they wouldnt have the courage to drop in on every conversation in a pub, just here. The other BB forums are doing well, Riptide and BBer.com are respectful places where the members dont piss on one a...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing

As everyone else has said, Great program, there always seems to be another angle to surfing history in Australia. We all used to believe that Duke was the 1st to ride at Fresh and now it seems there were quite a few people who rode boards b4 him. The interviews were the best part because one day the...

Re: Should the BB Only Forum be deleted.

If the BB forum was deleted then the kids might look somewhere else for their surf stoke and I propose that they pack away their BBs and pick up longboarding. Thats just what slow, middle aged guys want in the line up ,lots of hyped up, newbie, teenage kids flying around on longboards, taking every ...

Re: the bottle ???

Skabab, Ive always considered Franks work to be amazing, thats why I offered to collaborate with him on the design. I had a patent ( 64790/93) on the design pertaining to a divergent /convergent surfcraft outline, but it has lapsed so anyone can now shape their own version of the design. I think if ...

Re: the bottle ???

Hi Skabab, Im glad you like the design. Frank did a great job. All of the answers to your questions are in earlier posts on this thread. I had nothing to do with a Hydrohull design but its a great addition to The Bottle planshape. Back then my boards were available through myself or Aloha at Brookva...

Re: the bottle ???

I like the pics, my Bottle doesnt have the underside bevel that yours does. Mine has a bigger waist (thinner throat) than yours. Mines hammered too, just shows they are fun to ride. They turn like a board 2 foot shorter. I buggered a side fin at Shark Island years ago and then knocked both side fins...

Re: the bottle ???

MPcutback, I'll dig out the board and get the dims for you. That strong conservative streak in surfing is perplexing in the extreme, we all choose to do a sport which is a solitary pursuit and yet we all huddle under a blanket of uniformity in clothing, behaviour, beliefs and products including desi...

I dont see what small joy you get from wasting your hate on people who just want to discuss their own way of surfing ?

Re: Progression in Bodyboarding

i think that the sport of BBing hasnt progressed its equipment, so its deadly boring unless youre already hooked. Its like holding the Bathurst 1000 with FJs, consumers need to be constantly reminded that there are new products to improve their performance and enjoyment like the way they do with new...
