Meeting a mate is the only thing that works for me. And the thought that I might miss out on something if I don't get out. Invaribly I miss nothing of late.

I don't understand why girls are complaining about the non-surf topics so much? There is a reason why these topics go under the tangent area. Well said ! I've dappled in the tangent and non surf area but never finished reading a thread. If you don't want to read that stuff, don't go there. I didn't ...

If there is any way you can fidn someone to learn with I think it helps dramatically. I taught myself and had the wrong board to learn on. After 3 months I gave up. 3 years later I bought the RIGHT board (a mini mal fun board) and have never looked back from there. I now have a long board and a shor...

Just picked up a new steamer on the weekend. Finally got rid of the old old faded favourite with free air con in the holes. No wonder I was bloody cold. I can't believe the change in wetsuit technology out there now!!! I have never felt warmer in the water than I did over the weekend. Sensational. S...

For the most part I find these forums friendly and welcoming. You'll always cop some sledging and dickheads, but they are everywhere in life. I often read the forums and find some threads particularly interesting. Some are just outright boring, but again, you also get that everywhere in life. As for...

Thanks. I'll take it down to my usual surf shop and get em to take care of it for me. I love this board too much to try a self repair experiment. If it was my polyester, no worries, but I love my tufflite.

Tufflite dinged

I didn't think it was possible but I have a nasty nose ding in my surftech tufflite board. Amazing thing is I don't even know how it happened, just noticed it when putting the board away. Does anyone know where I can take the board to get repaired ? And I've heard they cost a lot to get fixed - any ...

I aggree with Shaunm. Take the Freshie private lessons. My bet is it's the same woman that gave me and a mate some lessons. My friend did a 2 hour group lesson at Manly surf school and learnt the absolute basics and pretty much found it crap. But she then did the private with 2 other mates and got S...

Thanks guys. Didn't think of the pillow option !!! Love it ! I've got the travel board cover and will remove the fins. Think I might phone ahead and see if there are rental joints though - would be cheaper than travel insurance I'm sure. Just can't stand staying by the coast and not getting some sur...

Boards on a plane

I am about to take my surfboard on it's first plane ride. I've heard so many horror stories that I'm considering not taking it as this is only a weekend away interstate. However, a weekend away by the coast without my surfboard would drive me insane! Can someone please give me advice on the best way...

If anyone sees a job role in the Northern Beaches for a SQL Server DBA and InstallShield developer then I'm in. I have been listed with every agency for 2 years now. Will take a pay cut to work locally. But want to do the same work. Nothing available. I honestly wasn't bitching about it either. I ju...

I gotta be in the office by 8.30am latest, which means leaving at 7. I leave work at 5pm sharp but that means I get home at 6pm - too late in winter. I have been rethinking my life and considered going back to tennis coaching so I can surf more, but realistically with a mortgage it's just not an opt...

Surfed that whole last swell at a very well known N Beaches spot morning and night with only 10-12 out max-too cold for the soft bellied, pink skinned BMW driving dears. I think that's a harsh comment. I'd love to be out there every day before and after work. Its not too cold, it's called work hour...

I'm always lurking and reading when I have time at work. Don't post too much.. I think you'll find women won't post CRAP. Blokes seem to just go on and on and on sometimes. There is also the male bragging thing that can just get too much. Chicks won't tend to put themselves on a pedestool as much in...

I started a journal as someone mentioned earlier and found that has helped me. Writing about what felt good, what felt bad, what I did well, what needed work.. going back to basics.. did I bend my knees enough ETC. Even down to how my mood was that day. It all makes a difference to each session. I f...

Some interesting info there Johnno, and a rather pathetic reply from SA Tourist Commission.
