The best thing about fins, especially good quality ones, is they come with you on your journey.

You tune in what you like and transfer across boards.

It's a wonderful independent variable for any surfer with more than half a brain cell and a functioning skill set.

I have. Had a beautiful custom 6'9" Peter MCabe step-up. Came with cheap plastic FCS fins. I'll never forget the day I swapped those out for a stiff pair of fibreglass fins of the same template. Be an interesting test- I'm not totally averse to the idea that preconceived biases (delusions) may be at play.

Total fin area is easy to feel.

Disagree Yuke.

Pretty easy for almost any competent surfer to feel a big difference related to fin stiffness/flex pattern.

I've surfed with stitches in plenty of times. Wrap it up. When you come in, give it a nice clean with dilute tea-tree and cover with Manuka honey. Depends how good the surf is. Couldn't do it with my MTB injury because it was just a big, open chunk out. (I still did it a bit). I really hate missing ...
