Re: Where did you surf today ?

There are heaps of people who get to the stage of having a decent pop-up and cruising across the wave, and that’s when they give it up. They give it up not because it is too hard, but because they don’t find surfing compelling enough to continue. They enjoyed their surfing foray, but now prefer to ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I reckon most young physically able teenagers could learn to surf if they really wanted to and could devote enough time to it. The thing is, the reality of learning to surf and surfing doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. It’s physically exhausting, often cold and lonely and can be scary at times. So...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

you're getting further and further down the rabbit hole of bike wanking. just stop. riding a bike is a form of transport, a means of getting from a to b. it has a utilitarian value, it is easy to learn, easy to become competent. Mountain biking is an offshoot of that. Because a man can ride a MTB do...

Re: HIRT

his point is that HIIT in the long run exacts too heavy a toll on the body to be sustainable.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Here's a thought experiment. We take three hundred random 15 year olds who have never ridden a bike, surfed or fished and divide them up into 3. One group of a 100 gets a bike. One group gets a surfboard, the other a fishing rod and box of tackle. Using a basic measure, say, riding up and down a roa...

Re: HIRT

That is extremely interesting Steve. I've been doing HIIT training for swimming, running, push-ups/pull-ups, but mainly swimming. For swimming I'm doing 4 laps at medium pace then one at 100%, repeated 4 times. I get slower and slower and more exhausted after each rep. But it seem using HIRT instea...
