Re: Where did you surf today ?
Been surfing regularly in that general area for the last 15 years at least and was aware that Seal Rocks has a big population of grey nurses and that Stockton and that general area is a white breeding ground. The general idea that it wont happen to you still persists, it's just one of the ways you k...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Trev, what do they classify as Big Seal Rock? Is that the offshore islands or the bigger rock out near the boat launching beach?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Not sure what it was but from what I know about sharks which admittedly isn't that much, bull and bronzeys are very much a darker colour, this was grey like dolphin grey or grey nurse grey or great white grey I suppose. Very happy with the outcome all things considered. Did a bit of reading and it w...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Had some fun waves today at the local, got a couple of surfs in which was good. Very different from my experience up the coast on Friday near Seal Rocks, only three of us in the water, mate looks at me and tells me he thinks he's seen a shark. I look out a bit and see a large 6-7ft grey shape missil...

Get a 12'6" semi displacement hull, they go great on flatwater.

Re: When Wamaii's big how do people get through the shorebre
Got some DC and Vans boots, I want some Burton Ambush though, they are sposed to be the bomb and super light! My foot size are 12's and fairly wide as well, the Vans are probably lighter but the DC's are pretty comfy and more supportive.

Re: Easter in the South Pacific
Kinda nudged the reef a couple of times but hardly even got more than a tiny scratch, nothing to worry about at all. The reef is quite shallow and there is definitely potential to hurt yourself. There is one part of that vid where you can see me pulling off the back and landing behind the wave, you ...

Re: Easter in the South Pacific
Cheers mate, I really enjoyed myself, to the point where I'm going back with a few mates later this year for another week. We were planning on heading way out into the pacific but we put that off till next year as it's 4 days of travelling and that's a bit much for a week of surfing. Hopefully going...

Re: autumn
Its about 8ft on the northern beaches right now, maybe even bigger. MHL is saying 6m average and 9m max wave height with 11-12 sec period, very south direction though.

Re: When Wamaii's big how do people get through the shorebre
Been back in Newport since bout August 2010. Surfed a bit on and off since but then on the second weekend of the season last year I fractured my L1 vertebrae in the front valley park, combo of 3 beers for lunch and average light conditions really didn't help. Did not much at all for 6 weeks and then...

Easter in the South Pacific
Haven't really been around these boards for a while, got a notification in my hotmail about an old subscribed post of mine receiving a reply so remembered they existed and stopped in for a look around. Motivated me enough to share a quick trip I did with my girlfriend over Easter just gone. She was ...

Re: When Wamaii's big how do people get through the shorebre
Has been a while, found way back into surfing again this summer, not that I really left just wasn't as interested as I was in snowboarding for a while but after 28 years or so of surfing I guess it was bound to happen.

Re: When Wamaii's big how do people get through the shorebre
The one and only time I surfed the place it was just big enough to be breaking properly, the surge runs up the beach like 40ft, if you're getting out it is quite an effort at times to maintain your footing, the beach is steep and when it runs back in there's a lot of water moving around. The day I w...

Re: SUP's
I have a 12'6" racing SUP that I use for fitness in Pittwater more often than anywhere else. During the long flattish spell last week I took it out around Newport Reef a few times and then on the way in caught a few ankle size waves. It is massively fun catching party waves with mates and trying to ...

Travelling to Chile South America
Myself and the missus are looking at travelling to Chile over the Easter break, we have 11 days off so a decent amount of time for a short holiday there. We would be flying into Santiago if we go, I'm looking at hiring a car but really don't want to travel more than about 4 hours. Really interested ...

Re: Lost some weight, been doin abs, surfing better.
Somewhere in my ranting s there might be some info that someone might take onboard. I really does come down to how bad you want it though. Since I've been in Melb I tend to put on a few kgs over winter, snowboard a lot but no surfing, around September I get annoyed with myself and clean up my diet a...
