Re: people who only surf in summer
Summer on the east coast is mainly 2ft wind affected bluebottle infested close period slop anyway. I find it hard to take anyone who wants to fight over it seriously. Went out on the weekend at sparrows fart and shared a little peak with a few guys until the wind got into it. Wouldn't have bothered ...

Re: Maldives - Central and Southern Atolls
I visited the central and southern atolls last september with liquid destinations. We hit a bit of a flat spell surfing mainly 2-3 ft. Usually we had the breaks to ourselves. Only saw one other boat of the central attols.Bit of travel between breaks. With a bit of swell it would be an awesome place ...

Re: A Slice Of Paradise
As long as the locals are only leasing to foreigners it is not always a bad thing. Means a lot of infrastructure is put in place (funded by foreigners) which means the local owners can increase the leases when they come up for renegotiation. Just got back from a trip to Vanuatu. Foreigners can only ...

Re: poor eyesight
I use contacts while surfing and wear glasses generally. My eyes aren't suitable for laser surgery. I buy the weekly use ones so they are not too expensive and its not a big deal if one comes out in the surf.Ocassionally you lose one but not often. An additional benefit of contacts lenses for surfer...

Re: Thruster/Quads with 5 Fin Plugs
Had a session on my five plugger today in quad mode. It felt like a thruster with out the centre fin (ie loose). Had fun riding it on my forehand but backhand was a bit weird. Just wouldn't seem to hold the same line as a thruster. First quad I've ridden so not sure if this is normal.

Re: Skin Cancer
I'm 49 and get a skin check once a year after having a lot of sun exposure when I was young. Have had quite a few bits and pieces cut/scraped off over the years but last year the specialist at royal North Shore prescribed a cream called Aldara for a precancer I had on my jawline beside my ear. Said ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Didn't surf today. Went fishing instead. Last surf was at raglan on Tuesday. Around 6-8ft glassy 14 second period and 150m plus rides. Lots of people in the water but still got a few riding a 6'9" semi gun.
