Re: Just general surfing stuff
FCS bringing out a few more classic templates (like MF, AM) in fibreglass and marketing it like it’s a new breakthrough after years of telling everyone how good honeycomb, carbon, and hollow fins are. Most punters wouldn't notice much difference between the different technologies, performance wise.

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Is he still making boards Yuke? Yeah, but he moved out of his factory in South Tweed when the landlord doubled the rent late last year ... he's in Burleigh somewhere now. Makes a nice board. I was surfing with the shaper of SWS (Stone Wild Surfboards) last week, down on the Coffs coast, he's not sh...

Re: Hernias
You should still be able to surf with a hernia (maybe a little discomfort). In 2016 I went under the knife to repair not one, but three hernias, and I took a couple of weeks off just prior to the procedure to go and surf my brains out, seeing as there can be a lengthy wait afterwards.

Re: Ebay Bargains thread
It would appear that the Dunning-Kruger effect has moved house from the twin-fin thread to the ebay bargains thread.

Re: Ebay Bargains thread
As in misaligned or not in the right position ?
The misalignment is probably a photographic illusion ... and the positioning looks okay.

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Volume isn't just an outcome, sometimes it's a driver of those decisions. In this case I mean displacement. Volume might be a "driver" ... but it's still the outcome of all the other aspects of shaping. Otherwise you could end up with a 33.5lt cube of foam and fibreglass ... and theres ya problem, ...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
As an over-arching measure of displacement and thus how well the board will float you volume is one of the handiest measurements there is for deciding on if a board of any combination of other design principles will work or not. That is why it has become so ubiquitous- because it's so fcuking usefu...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
I'm not saying that volume is the only thing driving design, that's insane. As is saying it's only a result of design decisions. But volume is achieved by design decisions ... thickness, width, length, foil, concave and other varying factors all contribute to how much foam is left after shaping. Vo...
