WEST wetsuits
my fluid edge is possibly the best suit i've ever had. heaps cheaper than any of the big three and imho - better made. i bought it cos my ripcurl 3/2 was falling apart and making more trips to torquay than i was. when i first got it i was dubious cos it felt so light but since using it i've found it...

Beach break Surf etiquette
why is snaking considered less reprehensible than dropping in? Out at trigg last week and guys on mals were snaking the hell out of everyone and acting aggrieved when I paddled to keep my line. Whatever happened to lining up let alone surf etiquette?

size counts
re the size for an all rounder for somone 6 foot plus. as someone who is 6'5 and about 96 kgs I have found after much trial and error that a 6'8 board is the go. i have a chilli which is that length but 19 3/4 wide (wished I'd gone another 1/4 narrower) and 2 1/2. it's one of the best boards I've ev...

The Bonzer - It goes so good.
i've got a bonzer egg by mick mackie. i'd recommend 'em the shortboard bonzers at 6oz look great. the combination of glide and control from them is unique i think.

Wave quality in perth
same goes for me re employment- moving there in 2 weeks. i grew up in perth and can say the wave quality in perth is pretty ordinary. in winter it can get ok. margs is about 3 1/2 hrs away, but there are closer surf spots north of perth that can get really good. many of these are only accessible by ...

Who did MP shape for in the 70's & 80's ?
larry,
i've seen a couple of mp brand boards on ebay starting bids at 800. there was one recently which started bidding at a 1100- it got passed in.

Re: taj burrow in bondi photo
obviously taj has the talent but maybe not the focus to win the title, would be nice to see a WA boy take it out though. he's been a consistent top 10 finisher i hope he can go all the way soon lets get an aussie first before we think about state wise true. it's nuts that we haven't thrown up a wor...

EGG's & other mid lengths
good point. i've also got a southcoast egg with a very flat rolled bottom into a v and really knifey rails. it took ages to learn how to ride it. it is incredibly fast but you realise how much skill people riding evolution era boards must have had to look so stylish

alex knost model
anyone ridden or seen the sean wilde model along these lines inspired by the robert august model. it seems to have a fair amount of rocker towards the nose. anyone got any info about the fin too? there's one at six ounce which looks pretty interesting.

surfing jokes
dudes, racist jokes do nothing to ameliorate the problem but only teach people that their prejudices are ok because other people share them. Those who say to look the problems in country towns seem to ignore the white trash that exists there in favour of isoloating social ills on aboriginals alone. ...

Mctavish Fireball
thanks platty for bringing some sense back to the forum. the fireball is exactly that - a board for a shortboarder going long. Or a board for someone not really into trad riding or loggin'. they have a fair bit of rocker and seem to be mainly designed to be ridden with yr back foot over the fins. th...
