Re: North Shore Hawaii

I hate night flying too - I can't sleep on planes. If I could lay flat I would sleep but can't sitting upright.

It's forecast for 10 - 12 ft on Saturday. I leave tomorrow.

FML

However it has been a sick two weeks and I could easily fall in love with this place.

Re: North Shore Hawaii

bumfluff the wind is never fcuken south ...or hardly ever. Pipe works in a trade wind just fine. Every god damn clip you've ever seen of it has been in a trade wind. ah whatever ya missed it. Better luck next time. Gotcha... I'm only going by the Wannasurf website. But thanks for that i'll know for...

steve shearer wrote:did you surf?
No, I'm on honeymoon. I feared that if I went out once it would turn into a surf trip and I promised the wifey I wouldn't surf the whole time.

I will be back within a year or two and THAT one will be a surf trip.

Re: North Shore Hawaii

So for tuesday there's a north west swell about 4ft heading for north shore.

Pipe works best on this north west, west swell direction.

But the wind is east north east and it's best when its south.

Is it worth getting a car and driving to the north shore from Waikiki?

Re: North Shore Hawaii

Ummm... I hope hurricane Ana moves along before Tuesday.

Could whip up some good swell on the north shore if it passes through without losing heaps of intensity. Hopefully it misses the islands altogether.

Damo666 you better batten down the hatches bud..

Re: North Shore Hawaii

Haha hopefully it calms down a bit for you mate. Didn't look that big on the cams this morning but could be still building. This isn't a surf trip for me, it's a honeymoon but I will go in if I see a good lonely bank. I plan on doing a trip to Indo later as well as returning to Hawaii in the peak sw...

Re: North Shore Hawaii

OK so the swelll hasn't hit yet and should hit tomorrow.

Just read a forecast and the only real hope at the moment is Vongfong re-forming in the north pacific as Nick was illuding to earlier.

Re: North Shore Hawaii

I'm watching the surf cam on pipe and it's like a lake. Must be a long time between sets... So I'm about 11 days out now. Any opinions Nick or Steve? Fongvong is still hanging around, but I guess we need that to follow Phanfone's path and hope something new forms in the north pacific? The current lo...

Re: North Shore Hawaii

Look at the size of that thing. It makes the one off Japan look tiny...

It would still need to intensify obviously but I like the look of that. :d

Re: North Shore Hawaii

Vongfong is intensifying quickly and is predicted to become a category 3 typhoon when it hits the Marianas on Monday.

From there it should follow the same path past Japan and into the north pacific.

Poor old Japan is copping a battering lately.

I'm a spectator. I want to see it massive and watch it in all it's glory.

I may surf some other spots.
