Re: shape advise
Sweet looking board, by the look of the pic it goes great mate. 4x4 should be strong enough, how much foam did you take off the deck? and what foam density was it? Try a harder density and you will get less dents, though it might feel a bit less responsive. Foam Density ??? didn't even realise ther...

Re: shape advise
How sweet is that. Good stuff on board and wave. Going to have a crack at shaping a similar shape in a month or so (second board) - based on Richie Pavel Speed dialer (quad). Pavel Speed Dialler - probably the funnest boards I have ever ridden (havent tried a mini sim yet) Haven't seen these before...

Re: shape advise
It's a peak DIY experience. Absolutely dUg. I'm not the best surfer around but riding my own hand made craft gives my surfing another dimension of enjoyment. Problem is, the bar is now set quite high for my expectations on next years boards. (already working on improving this board plus a bigger wa...

What do you guys do with the PU blank off cuts. I have noticed a lot of people hang onto them, but what for. Seems to just be more clutter. (wavecraft has inspired me to tidy up my workshop)

Holy crap... you have a holster for your saw and an electric pencil sharpener. I cant even find my pencils.
Here is a photo of my poorly lit and cluttered shaping bay.

Re: shape advise
so howd it go?? Went bloody unreal! The surf was a lot bigger than i expected to ride on this and it held in well. Picked up the wave early and drew long fast lines. It did have its limitations when it got 8' and bigger, the wide tail started to get a bit skatey. I know what quiver to take next yea...

Re: shape advise
Yep - gunna foil it out about 1/8th thinner. Rails are definitely low and rolled deck. I have just ordered my fins, using twin + 1 set up.
Will post more photos for comments as it progresses.
This board will join my 6' DVS Quad and a 6'4" round tail Pipedream (stock standard thruster) for the trip.

Re: shape advise
There are plenty of rippable options for this style of board in the Ments. The surf guide rides a 5'10 twinnie with a wider tail than this, seen footage of him pulling into some pretty heavy waves. I will still take a regulation board as a fall back. The board is 6'1" x 19 1/2" i think i will take t...

shape advise
G'day all, I'm making a board for myself to take to the Ments in a few months. The advise i was given was to keep it short but with a good thickness for paddle speed. I have gone with my standard 6'1" split tail plan shape, 2 5/8ths thick in the middle tapering to 2" at the front fins. I have a fair...

Re: Philippines

My missus will be working in Manila for several weeks and i will be heading over to visit her for a week. So i will be looking for somewhere relatively easy to get to and maybe even girlfriend friendl...

Shaping and Glassing are 2 completely different skill sets and both are equally as important to the finished product and more importantly it's performance. Starting from a knowledge base of 0, i found it very difficult and frustrating to gain knowledge on how to make a surfboard. You can get all the...

Concave bottom. Medium to low rails, probably suited to a solid beachy or sucky reef. I guess i'll find out for sure when i get on it. Cut laps aren't too hard, I mean no one showed me how to do it but i was able to figure out a way. It's probably not the right way but it kinda works. Lots of maskin...

She's got a bit of weight but thats probably from the 6/4 lam on the deck. Kelly Green resin tint on...
