Take a look at Glen Hall's Instagram. He's got a sense of humour. What else can you do but laugh.

Slater's 10 was something special.

Re: Drop in on Tony Abbott

On a side note, what I think is a shame is that if you look at psychology, social work, even medical treatment, one of the main research proven catalysts for people to change their circumstances for better is compassion. Someone providing a helping relationship to provide compassion and offer what ...

Any talk of you having a run on the commentary team at certain events? Would be a plus.

Re: teahupoo (no ')

Great event. Really slick production for a surf event, especially considering where they are. They're definitely stepping it up towards next year. The commentary was some of the best. Well done to all involved. Perhaps one improvement would be lining the dry reef section in front of the wide camera w...

Re: teahupoo (no ')

This contest is one of the best this year. The waves look dangerous - shallow and punchy on the inside. The size is perfect for barrels and big gouges. All that talk of this years contest being shyte - ppppft. The finals are looking great. Slater taking some big beatings and dusting it off and going...

Re: Ask Carroll

What's happening here? The surfer is initiating the turn by shifting some weight on to the outline curve. All well and good as described above. But -- the outline curve can only carry a turn through a few degrees and a couple of metres. As the board rolls up on to the rail, the surfer needs to enga...

The ASP know how to court controversy. Hard to justify some judging decisions. You wouldn't touch the sport if you were a bookie.

Re: Bali Pro - Who's Ya Winner ?

Love round 4 with the priority. Heat 2 was ridiculous. Slater's double tube was technically flawless. And Josh Kerr's wife is definitely a ten. The Bourez De Souza Patacchia heat was great but they were all fudging it at the end. How can you get a 9.something when you mess up the finish the ride? De...

Re: Bali Pro - Who's Ya Winner ?

Was that the heat Slater was in with the child? :-? Yeah. That's the heat. I'm not comparing Slater to the young bloke though. I'm talking about the rest of the surfers in the contest. I can give or take all the air reverses. JJF's alley-oop was amazing and if he can keep that up without dislocatin...

Re: Bali Pro - Who's Ya Winner ?

Heats 'On Demand' are a total joke. Trying to catch up on Round 2 heats .. have to sit through hours of streamed footage. Nice one Oakley. Aren't they supposed to be standardising the web experience? What gives? I thought the same thing. A few days ago they were working like they normally do - pick...

Re: Fiji Pro

The opening two waves of the final were just incredible. How Slater got up after that lip on the head and went on to win is beyond human. That beating would pretty much send anyone to the boat for a lie down. He just goes back out and turns it up a notch. Freak.

Such a great contest.

Re: Fiji Pro

Just watched via heats on demand ... Seems there is a real difference between the top guys, and the next level down. Is that board, experience and ability all coming into play? JJF seems to be relaxed, while Jordy seems to be putting in a lot of effort? Shesh ... Parko seemed comfortable. And Mick,...

Re: Wavegarden 2.0

Based on their press release, and noting that they're proposing to generate a 2m wave as opposed to the trial 1m wave, by my very rough calculations, it looks like costs would be of the order of $3-$4 per wave to cover their power supply, establishment, staffing and maintenance costs. So would you ...

So after Parko's blunder on Tuesday you'd think any serious competitor would be ready to go at any time. Today Restaurants is firing on and off and the contest is ON - so you'd be ready to for your heat. Right? After all, you've trained all year and you're after a world title. Then Taj tells us in h...

Re: Snapper riffing

Can anyone explain Bede's 9.1 for 2 turns? I can't fin a 9.1 in that wave. Thought Slater's 9.27 was a little overcooked also, perhaps to compensate for the Bede overscore. I thought the same thing about Slaters last wave. Then I watched the heat on demand and watched Slater's first 9 just before t...
