Re: Midlengths

Black Barons are popular here. Seem one guy surfs them well. I’ve back to my local surf shop a couple of times in the last week to cast my eyes over these. The 6’8 (HV) model is what I’ve had my eye on but haven’t been able to get my hands on one. Shop had 6’6, 7’0, 7’6. Nice boards, but they also ...

Re: Midlengths

I’m about to head down the channel bottom twin path. I’m going to get a 7’2. Always wanted a channel bottom. Going to Indo in Nov to a long deep water point break. Should be the only board I need.

Nose concave on longboards

80kg 5’10 surfer. looking a 9’0 for beachies. Surf Sydney most of the time with the odd trip up and down the coast. Might join the mal club. How much does nose concave matter? There’s are few options on the Bumtree at the moment. Board 1. 9’2. EPS construction Wide point back 50/50 rails rolled vee ...

Re: Midlengths

Hey gents,

Has anyone done research on foamie’s.

The nulla is now completely packed due to covid and I’ve had a couple of unfortunate collisions with young grommets getting in the way. Looking to find a single fin 9’ foamie with half decent rails that I can noseride.

Re: Coconut Spray; The Niugini Experience

... Surfed Nago left by myself one arvo got about 15 waves in 45mins. Would love to see this wave with a bit of size on it. Borrowed a 7’2 single fin egg from the resort and had a bit of fun cruising around on the fat outside section before grabbing a rail on the more bowly inside section. Can’t wa...

Re: Midlengths

Ordered one of these yesterday. In 8’0 or 8’2. Patto’s going shape two identical apart from the size and I’ll take my pick. I’m swaying towards the 8’2 though Will be 23.3 wide and 2.87 thick. Big 10” fin. Vee bottom. Looking forward to something so different to what I’m used to riding. https://www....

Re: Midlengths

https://surfsimply.com/volume-to-weight-calculator/ http://www.grantmillersurfboards.com.au/boards/waterskate Thanks for that ctd. Very helpful I’ve had a water skate. Get it glassed well. They’re the best for Sydney beaches i reckon. I’ve had a 6’8 and a 6’2, both sensational. Rounded pin in the l...

Re: Midlengths

Forget litres, just get around a 7’6 with a bit of foam out to the rails. This could be the best advice in surfing for anyone from a beginner to expert. It there’s one board a surf needs it’s a 7’6 (in my case 7’7) single fin with/without trailers. Not a fucken thruster minimal. I’m open to most th...

Re: Midlengths

I’ve never liked the LFT tech. They ding easier than PU in my opinion. The old rapid fire tech wasn’t the greatest either. I’ve got a helium 5’11 gamma that I picked up recently. Haven’t been using shortboards much lately as my back’s been a bit dicky with all the sitting down I’ve been doing during...

It’s just that FireWire thing in anything but Machado or that dude with the funky boards (Nano etc)
Not sure what you’re saying?

I’ve had some great firewires over the years.
The best of them was the 7’2 seaxe. Loved it.

Re: Midlengths

Has anyone has any experience with the Soulty Surf brand coming out of soul surf in Brookvale? They look like the Sanctum branded boards.
There’s an 8’2 that looks like fun, 550. Cheap like a budgie.
Looks like the sanctum magic carpets, but with a tear drop concave which I’m after.

Re: Midlengths

Thanks for the clip gents. Most of those Gato Heroi boards are hull bottoms aren’t they. It looked like it wasn’t very easy to surf. Not sure they’d be suited to the waves I’m in frequently around Cronulla. I’m pretty familiar with the surfboard warehouse boards. My 9’0 is made by those guys. I pick...

Re: Midlengths

Seems hard to find clips of people riding 8-8’11 boards specifically. Well, if the videos are there, they aren’t tagged to draw attention to the actual board length.
I found one clip of an 8ft comp down Ulladulla way, but it was nothing to right home about.

I’ve always ridden a longboard. In my opinion there’s just no other choice in 1-2ft peeling high tide beachies.

Re: Midlengths

I’m 5’10 and 80kgs. Been riding a 7’7 PCC singlefin fin for just over five years. Keen on getting something that sits in between my 9’0 epoxy pop out. Thinking about a 8’6 Firewire special T or an 8’8 the gem. Anyone had any experience with said boards/lengths and how was the nose ride experience I’...
