Re: Sumba

My mate has been before, but he’s not the kind of guy that gets into the details too much. The convo goes down the like this... “How was your trip?” “Got some waves, drank heaps of beer and the food was pretty good man” “What were the waves like?” “Some good, some not so good, you know, it’s indo man”

Interested to hear the feedback on the Crossbreed
Won’t be picking up until the 4th Feb, when i head up to Newcastle next for work.

Then I have to wait for a wave to give it a go.

It’ll complement the 7’2 Firewire Seaxe I have very well I think.

Sumba

I’m going in April, Sumba Surf Camp in Kerewei, sounds like there’s a few other punters going too.

Would love to hear from anyone that’s been. Favourite waves, fun things to do, places to avoid, what boards did you take.

Re: Europe in September

Thanks for the input to this everyone.
Didn’t end up surfing, didn’t have the time to get out to the coast.
Spent some quality time with the spouse and then made a solo trip up to the Dam to sample the green.
That place is a connoisseur’s paradise.

Re: Midlengths

Just google mapped the trip from the surf camp to millers. If it’s accurate, 3.5 hours drive. F that.

Re: Midlengths

Can’t wait to get my hands on it. When I saw the post on instagram, I was that excited a little bit of wee came out.... Looks great to me Jet! https://vimeo.com/184146981 But I'd ask for a bit more volume. I’ve seen that clip about 50 times. I get a little OCD about these kinds of things, but i gue...

Re: Midlengths

It’s a pretty small place that seems to book out pretty quick. I’m only spending $1700 including flights (garuda all the way there and back). Loads cheaper than the Tengirri boat trip I did in 2016, but less time away from the kids which is important. If I didn’t travel so much for work I’d be doing...

Re: Midlengths

I’m staying at the Sumba surf camp. 6-12th. Ended up with 6’10 Jye Byrnes Crossbreed this morning after seeing one second hand on his instagram page, with fins for a bargain. I used to have 6’8 PCC which I took to indo a couple of years ago, stupidly sold it. Similar shape as Iggy’s 6’4. I love taki...

I've owned a few of them and did a few seasons in Roti on a 7'6. It'll go just fine in anything - head to double no problem.
Much appreciated

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Sounds like too much hard work for little reward. I need to surf the beachies more. I realised how unfit (how lazy i’ve become) i was the other day when i tried getting out at north Narrabeen. Spending too much time at the point really has a negative impact on fitness and duck diving skills... Been ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

No meat and three veg here the last coupla days. Yesterday just all feeling a bit Hawaiian, smooth late drops, deep connective turns on the big six, epic show-pony "down carves" with the whole drop knee shtick going, changing up the lines, letting the board manhandle the wave, then riding into sand...

Re: post your modern day sickness

All of the well known brands have a similar model to that one. It’s all “more foam under the chest, wider point pushed forward bla bla bla”. There are differences between them so before splashing out $800 on the Chilli I’d look at the DHD models and definitely Lost and maybe Channel Islands. They’r...
