Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
Apparently no problems with "people seem to be confusing seeing a shark with likely being bitten by one" TMS http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/shark-attack-man-bitten-on-leg-by-shark-at-lighthouse-beach-while-bodyboarding/story-fnhnv0wb-1227494544237 This afternoon at Port Macquarie. Seems mighty like...

Re: Gary McNeill
Gary's boards look interesting but all those swallow tales give the impression that they are all fish. I know a few that love the fishier outline boards but I'd be interested to know who may give given one of his step up boards a go. Maybe the entity pin or the like as a board in indo or WA. Beautif...

Re: What boards DID you take to Indo?
20 years ago on first visit I took a 7'0 and a 6'5 to Indo. Way over gunned on the 7. Last Gland visit there were guys shredding on 5'8 Hyptos at Moneys and Speedies in solid 8ft. Changed my perspective. I'm 5'9 and 42. Now I ride nothing more than 1 inch either side of my height. Best advice I have...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Where are people buying wetsuits these days for the right price? Looking for a LS Springsuit GBS 2mm and honestly not a lot of difference between some of the UK US sellers by the time you through in delivery and a low AUS$. Any advice? Some great looking suits around now but the LS spring is my pref...

Re: Ask Carroll
Thanks Natho. Bit of a deterrent hearing that. A quick search shows only a few oz shapers using them. I might chase this up before I go down the line of committing. Sure I will bust a box first wave after hearing that. They do seem like a good design.

Re: Ask Carroll
Hey nick have you tried surfinz boxes at all? Compatible with fcs and a few comments in old posts but not much of presence on their homepage . Interested in what value you think there is in adjustable fin boxes. Hype or worth an install?

Re: Jetstar to Bali
Lost Fongs, Are you saying I won't get my boards on the flight? Flying a 787 Dreamliner both ways. Syd to Den and Dep to Bris return. Spoken to a few people who have inferred that longer boards up to 2.7m are not an issue. As I said try getting through to Jetstar on the phone. Near impossible so fin...

Re: Jetstar to Bali
Hmm budget flights. That's what you get when you try to book 10 days out. Normally would just pay more for Garuda but no chance of flights when I wanted them. Teach me.I hope all goes well. Seems to just be longer boards that are the issue but might very well need to tape the nose back on the cover ...

Jetstar to Bali
Any advice? I see they have a 190cm limit which is fine for my boards but I have heard of some people experiencing issues. My plan is 2 boards both under 190. Board cover is about 218cm. Is this going to present an issue? Can you buy additional baggage to counter for the length issue of the bag. Eve...

Re: winter fourteen
And the NE winds continue through winter. Tell me honestly is this odd? Perhaps I have been surfing too short a time to have seen this trend before but really this winter is proving to be a fair dud of one off days. After last spring summer I was thinking that good things come to those that wait for...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
coast still firing on 5th day in a row. Holiday crowds minimal and just spent 4 glorious hours surfing right handlers with some solid size and juice. Has been offshore all day for the last 2. Almost makes up for the worst summer I have seen in years. Almost! Set to run for another 3 days which will ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I dint like the feel that I am above others but honestly I am amazed at how your average weekend warrior these days is prepared to paddle out in surf like today. With the big sweep few made it out but oh how I hate to feel like I'm a lifeguard when I'm surfing. With that said the local exposed break...

Re: Winter
Thanks for the replies. I suspect the misuse of one word has fired a few up. I am of course not referring to predicting surf exactly. I am of course interested in the events that lead to the generation of swell and if those can be predicted from more than a month out. Steve thanks for the replies. I...

Re: Winter
Hi Gentlemen/Don, I have become increasingly curious in regards to forecasting longterm surf that is + 1 month or longer out. So really well before the sites like surfline or swellnet are showing anything on charts. Can you recommend the methods that you use for forecasting or even where to start? P...

Re: Ask Carroll
One for the crowd and Nic, Sure this is the same in many spots on a Sunday but the months surf comp has me asking a few questions. I think I know the answer is one of etiquette rather than a steadfast rule...is there a general expectation that a surfer in a comp always has right of way, free to drop...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I'm really surprised with the amount of people generally unhappy with ripquikbong suits that pretty much the majority still wear them in oz. stacks of other suit brands that are well respected overseas that you can get for half the price. I can see why guys in southern states want the best and warme...

Surf size mystery
This has baffled me the last few times we have had swell from the NE or ENE on the north coast. I suppose it is the same elsewhere but just curious. Question is why does a swell from these directions almost always appear (in fact it just is) bigger on northern headlands? Swell on these headlands tod...
