Re: Surf Academy

well fongs pretty good chance your fairly immediate predecessors had the same idea as SurfieC. kind of weird that on the one hand we sponsor 50,000 odd lumps of unwashed, unhealthy, unemployed uneducated, unwanted, lawless detritus that wash up on our shores each year and on the other hand hold grud...

Re: Surf Academy

go get your Euro karma watching a whole bunch of them trying to negotiate a tricky rock-off. One unfortunate fellow followed me on my first time out, got an urchin in his foot and was out of the water for 5 days. Having not learned his lesson he again followed me out proceeded to head butt his board...

Re: 10 sharkiest waves In Aus

A great white lives to about 30 years? no f..en way. 30 years to grow from 1 foot long to 20 foot long? Think about how much mass it puts on to go from 19ft to 20 ft...I reckon they grow big fairly rapidly, and after that get really really big really really slowly

Re: Big Wave Photos In Oz

someone should put an end to this 'wave size nonsense' before it gets out of hand. 1. he was never more than 2/3 the way up the face 2. by the time the wave broke behind him he was on the flats 3. as soon as the wave broke he bailed 4. he didnt make a turn 5. he didnt pull in 6. he didnt paddle for ...

cant blame em for trying to make a buck...and hopefully enough earn enough bucks to travel and widen their horizons and perhaps gain even more perspective. i've certainly benefitted from surf guides (working for other people) great for knowing when the sets are coming... for sure the kids will surf ...

Re: Bali quiver advice...

i would take your everyday DP's*, that should suffice for most situations that you will encounter. Plus take a flash pair of HPDP's for when you need to dress to impress.

Re: surfing between the flags

I once got harassed (or in light of recent media reports - is the correct adjective 'molested') by a clubby for bodysurfing OUTSIDE the flags (and by OUTSIDE i mean 500m down the beach so as to differentiate myself from the seething froth of humanity). :D

Re: Where did you surf today ?

no surfing today, but in the last week...empty 6ft point break perfection in Marokko. Thank you baby Jesus indeed. Lucky there were some aussies in the camp, other wise all that empty perfection would have gone completely unmolested as all the euros were faking injuries :D

Re: Help me buy a fishing kayak

Have you even tried a (ahem) yak?

if not, fork out 50 bucks for a tour with the local kayak hire guy and suss him out for info.

try some different models, its all a bit personal preference

plastic kayaks are a bit heavier, but indestructible, you can laugh at rocks and oyster leases
