Dan Malloy's been doing this as well, using super thin-rail Liddle hulls. And i've heard of him also using a 'bottom-half' or somthing like that. kinda like a flexspoons greenough used to ride -- rail so thin, that they hold without the fin. people that seen him ride that way claim he can really get...

S-deck ( dome) actually works with rolled bottom to get you up on a rail easier.... IMO. I understand dome adds strength to an otherwise thin board. you can look at them in pics all day... and they just look like funboards. get one in yr hands and you can feel the difference straightaway... the rail...

Longy - you can pushem real hard, but not from the tail. in decent head-hi to OH waves, i wouldn't put my foot further back than a few inches in front of the fin. when you turn 'right', you have a lot of rail in the water. ... and yr exactly right on that bit about versatility... they aint. they're ...

P-A: if yr talkin about those clips i posted a link to, then: the allaboutsurf.com stuff was some private footage by some David Lloyd (?) i'm not sure, but his name's right there. The guy was evidentally part of that crew of hull types -- Steve Krajewski/Bojorquez, Gregg Liddle, Kirk Putnam, Marty P...

Here's a clip that's a little better -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryEpoBDaggo ..... with some gratuitous made-in-SoCal violence for spice. (??) and then here're some older clips (1971-1977) of the Hull Tribe at Malibu: www.allaboutsurf.com/articles/sixfeet Definately not for everyone -- but i d...

That particular youtube vid of hulls was lame -- i agree. But i've been riding Liddle hulls now for about a year - coming off std shortboard and fish -- and find them hulls addicting. Ideally you ride on long pointbreaks, not much bigger than overhead, although it's done. It's a fast, smooth, on the...

That's pretty slick - an Aussie hull... and by DVS, no less. Alex Copps - one of the "Gothic Dolphins" ... still ain't fig'd that name out... but good hull lore. SIX OUNCE surfshop -- if i ever get to Oz, i'm gonna hit 6oz before i do anything else. seen their selection of boards online. insane. all...

is that DVS hull s-decked? The fin, plenty flexible? i'm thinking yr gonna wanna move that fin up a bit. advice given to me was: starting trailing edge 12" from tail, adjust in 1/2" increments up to about 14". There's some good info on Sways on this, just search for "Hull fin tuning". sweet-looking ...

i've had my hull out on several sessions since last post here. All on point breaks. notes: 1) once you tune that fin, cutbacks from the center position aren't all that difficult... just step back a little just before going into the turn. rode it in real lined up point surf 6-8ft faces. riding from t...
