How’s the water temp compared to Vicco Grooter?
About the same mate or close to it. Haven't noticed a big difference

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Further south from you at Pleasure Point (33rd avenue)

Mostly 4 foot waves, got a couple of nice long rides on the longboard. Cold but it was a beautiful morning, clear, blue skies etc...

Re: General snow stuff

I have not my friend, worth the extra 30 minutes to travel?

I'm going to Dodge Ridge on Sunday with the boy. Aiming to get there around 08:30 at the latest as I'm expecting it to be busy.

Re: How is wave height measured in Australia?

Personally I hate surfing anything double-overhead because it's just too much paddling effort for someone more amply proportioned like myself as the currents and wave speed just get too much.

Overhead or below thank you very much, I get way more enjoyment

Re: General snow stuff

It's directional too, even if it has minimal setback and no taper. So the writing shows you which end is the front. I had the bindings on the wrong way  Never thought to check that there is a right and left foot one. Fixed it now. I set the right (back) to -9 and the front (left) to 15. I als...

Re: General snow stuff

Looks like you set it up backwards? Assuming you are regular, your back foot is normally somewhere between -6 and 0 (+6 for a really surfy stance) and your front foot is normally +12 to +24. With size 10 boots you may need to move the heelcup back too. I think the photo reversed or something, I'll ...

Re: Planning two weeks thru Oregon and Cali in May

It was well below average in California up until the weekend with the big storms that dumped a lot of snow bringing it to about 70% of average.

Another round is due next week I think

Re: Planning two weeks thru Oregon and Cali in May

I predominantly surf in Santa Cruz. Its a good spot, plenty of options but crowded to hell on weekends and over the summer when all the kids are not at school.

Re: General snow stuff

I'm thinking of heading to Dodge Ridge over Presidents Day weekend with my son. Probably stay local-ish on Sunday night so we can spend two days up there and come back on the Monday.

If I didn't need to live in a good school district I'd have moved there already.

Could happily live out my days down that way

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Santa Cruz has a reputation for fairly assertive localism in the lineup. Grooter and alakaboo, have you found this? Nah not at Pleasure Point. Seen a few arguments but nothing that constitutes localism Steamer Lane has a bit more of that vibe.but never experienced it personally I'd say it's a reput...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Thought it would've been wrapping in there a bit more. Is there a reason you mainly surf Eastside? I would've gone to Indicators. The lines coming in were great and people were getting some really good rides. The problem was, I wasn't! Main reason is simply that I know those places well now so I te...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The Hook at Santa Cruz First time back since dislocating my finger trying to help save that bloke. Was around 6 foot and pretty steep. Couldn't catch a fcuken cold out there, never been good with the very steep stuff and the more shallow nature of that break was playing in the back of my mind a bit ...
