Re: Ask Kook

Loved this post not the injuries. Having a laugh at yourself and sharing thanks. As I took up surfing in my forties I will always be a kook but with style LOL. My injuries have been stretchered off the beach after going head first into a sand bank (don't surf when you are tired) taken to hospital bu...

Re: Technical advise for a surf website

Thanks but mine is suddenly working. It happens every time I am asked to update Java, technology is great but when it doesn't work it drives me insane. I just put it down to me being an oldy LOL.

Re: Fingal Bay NSW

Thanks spoon for the reply I will let you know if I go there.

To the others sorry I should have put this at the end of my post ?

Yes I am one of the older female surfers that occasionally posts here which can be quite intimidating at times but I do brave it from time to time :)

Fingal Bay NSW

Hi I am looking at staying at Fingal Bay caravan park for a few days. As it is right on the water I am hoping it will have some waves no driving and having a surf right on my doorstep would be a holiday. I am not looking for big waves just some fun chilling out stuff as I am old LOL. Looking at goin...

Re: Leashes

Thanks Nick I know you always give good answers.
My short board has about the same length of the board but I thought I may have to go longer for the mini mal.

Thanks again

Leashes

Hi Just bought a mini mal for summer and haven't bought a leash yet. It is 7'2" what length do you recommend and any online sites where I could purchase one. Not a top of the line one just one that will work.

Thanks

Re: Bruised ribs

Thanks everyone I will just have to be patient. I also hurt my thumb in the surf a few months back and did tendon damage and I still get little twinges with it sometimes. I was told once because of the little injuries I always get and I don't go into big surf that I am too old and maybe I should giv...

Bruised ribs

Just wondering if anyone knows how long the pain of bruised ribs take to disappear. About just over 4 weeks ago I was on holidays and my own board came up and hit me in the ribs. The pain was excruciating, to breath, cough or even move properly it hurt like hell. As I was in Sri Lanka I didn't do an...

Re: Mats

I have to jump onto this topic. Brings back happy memories of my girlfriends and myself riding surf mats in the early 70's. We had red and blue ones with blue flippers. It was hard back in those days as chics :) were not welcome in the surf let alone on a surfboard/surf mat or anything. We surfed at...

Re: Head first into the sand....

I hope you are OK spongy. Never ever wait to get your spine checked out! A few years back I also went head first into the sand, now I hate surfing low tide. I was disorientated, a little dizzy and had a strange feeling down my neck. Thought I would be OK but still felt strange and went to the life g...

Re: surfing between the flags

I surf freshwater a lot, I know it is summer and crowded so I am patient and catch waves when I can. The flags are up and we obey the no go zone but what really pisses me off is the amount of swimmers who swim outside the flags and don't listen to the lifeguards telling them to swim in the flags. Yo...

Thanks Nick for putting up this story. What a courageous young girl. I hope she continues to surf even after children. Also that she keeps safe but I do fear for her.

Re: Help looking for a new board

Thanks so much for all this advice. I didn't realise how technical it is but i get it. Having the right board I am sure would improve my surfing by heaps. I can't duck dive my fish at all don't have the strength to get the nose down and can't get the ball of my foot on the back due to my knee so I j...

Re: Help looking for a new board

Thanks very much guys I am going to look into all your advise. I don't know of any shapers. I know Wicks from years ago I bought my daughter a board there when she was 12 and the fins were so sharp when she wiped out they nearly cut her leg off, ok slight exaggeration but the worst fin chop ever she...

Help looking for a new board

I have been looking for a new board and going into a couple of surf shops in Manly and asking questions etc. I know they are trying to sell their boards as well so it is proving a difficult and confusing task. At the moment I am riding a miller fish 6'2" 21 1/8. I have been enjoying this board and a...
