Re: The Real Surf Backyarderz ... who are you?

Thanks mate. Aprreciate the kudos. Yes. I handshape all and am quite addicted to that side of things. I really enjoy the processof shaping. And I also do all the artwork, glassing etc. I don't think the every day surfer knows how much of a bastard of a job sanding a surfboard is!!! They are very una...

had a surf with Boomer during this last week at Curly and i gotta say, the guy could talk underwater!! (probably has along with everything else) but was a real treat to hear some of his stories. Quite a gentleman in the water as well and almost felt guilty taking waves when he was around, even thoug...

Ric, are you saying that on your fish, you have no edge AT ALL? not even behind the fins? Does it feel super slippery? Twin or Quad? Bottom shape? I have been foiling my rails on fish but subsequently running an edge further and further up...

With the event still so fresh in your mind, are you contemplating ways to ensure this sort of thing doesn't catch you out again? Will you adjust your training or train specifically for just this sort of situation?

Mate, I watched a couple of guys getting out of the water this morning at North Steyne there and I couldn't help but wonder...Where is the other guy's board? Surely he isn't swimming out there for fun on a morning like this? I was fascinated and figured, maybe he lost his board?..I Scoured the beach...

Thanks Pridmore, appreciate that. The flyers are set about 8 inches up from the tail. I have a couple of sets of MRX template twins that I would love to bang in. I have the matching trailer as well and a couple of variants...That will be a smidge back from normal rear fin setting.... I will post pic...

Supertwins....

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the fin setup for a 'supertwin' style board? I have shaped one for myself and my thinking is, the twin fins need to be a little further back towrds the tail seeing as they are doing most of the work... A small trailer will be employed and t...

Mr Larry, if indeed he did speak their language, I doubt very much he would take the slightest interest in anything we have to say. Personally, I like the idea of someone who DOESN"T speak their language, actually having the opportunity to put forward some questions without the homogenising that gen...

It is interesting though Terminator. Perhaps I should start another thread.. I imagine it is a common train of thought that a good shaper (not me by any means) is such because of his ability in the water and his subsequent experience? I thouroughly enjoy making boards and will continue to do so even...

I have to say, that was the most inspiring post I have read to date! (in response to my queries that is.) I too (as Terminator was so kind to point out) am not able to push the performance envelope when hit the water, however,a good solid, neutralb platform gives a good basis to start with design wi...

What consistency are you referring to Terminator? ( I anticipate a thoroughly scathing response making reference to my abilities in the water and the relevant ability or lack thereoff in the shaping arena, considering your username!!) I don't know that my personal abilities can in any way affect the...
