Re: Arthritis - Big Toe

I went and spoke to a good surgeon who specialises in toes. Last resort would be a fusion of the toe joint, though he would probably first try cleaning the joint up with keyhole. Basically I've done nothing and it's not really affecting my surfing much at all other than a little pain here and there....

Re: Surf fitness

If anyone is looking for a 12 foot prone paddle board to train on I may be able to help out. It would be a Jamie Mitchell full carbon 12 foot board for under a grand. About $2500 new. Just PM me. Its on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Its in very good condition. They are hard to come buy esp at that...

Re: bali forecast

I'm heading over late Feb. Could not resist the $400 return flights. Whiles Im not a huge fan of Bali I think at current lower season prices its pretty hard to beat for value. I really like going in the 'Wet Season'. Ive always got good waves and the crowds are lower compared to the Dry season. Nusa...

Re: Surf fitness

Cranked, firstly my comments here are purely my own opinions based on my own experience. I am certainly no fitness expert but anyway here goes: The program looks ok to me. In fact it looks pretty good and has a good functional base to it. Will it improve your surf fitness? Possibly by a few percent....

Re: Having a break form surfing?

Im talking about one bloke. Not sure where you got 'all your mates' from. But happy for you to get your loose ol sphincter into a spasm over it if that floats your boat. referencing the said person is relative to the discussion as it is someone who would know a thing or two about what is being discu...

Re: Having a break form surfing?

Yeh Braithy that sounds similar to the program Riding Bumps promote. Its funny because depends who you talk to. Everyone seems to have opinions about how to train. Fact is we are all different and need to tailor programs to suit us individually. The Riding Bumps program makes sense to me and has som...

Re: Having a break form surfing?

long conversation with a mate last night along the lines of exactly what is being discussed here, that is interval and HIIT training v just going for distance or going flat out. Our conversation was based on prone paddle training however I think it is relevant to running and swimming as well. This gu...

Re: Having a break form surfing?

Prone paddling is great. You can certainly prone paddle for distance rather than knees, as long as you have the fitness base and technique to do it. You don't have to go to your knees though if you are racing then knees is faster and also helps mix it up. Prone is a good place to start. I have found...

Echo Beach sucks. Unless you are into hairy homosexual hipsters and riding single fins.

Re: Quiver thread

often a board being fast, or surfing more out on the flats etc has more to do with a boards rocker, width and plan shape than it does how many fins they board has. Stick a thruster in some of those 'quad boards' and you may be amazed at how fast the board still goes. Might have more to do with the b...

Re: Mollusc

Super user friendly board that will still perform on a dime. Get a round tail version if you want to open the board up to a bit more versatility. Pretty much impossible to bog a rail on them. They paddle well, easy to surf and will still surf top to bottom if you want it to. Can't go wrong IMO.

Re: post your modern day sickness

Nick don't think about the board too much. Just face reality and admit you don't like it. The board is shiiiit. You are hanging onto it wanting to like it, but deep down you know its shiit .
How much do you want for it. Or better still that other 5'9 MC you reviewed.?

Re: What shortboard

Don't get too caught up in brands and marketing labels. Go to a good surf shop with a good range. Go through the rack (second hand or new) and put boards under your arm to find one you like and suits. Ignore the label on the board up until this point. You can even ignore the dimensions up until this...
