Re: Where did you surf today ?

It's currently about 2ft or so in the illawarra... Haha drove home via the beaches as usual and didn't see much. This arvo is supposed to pick up though I think, going by the forecast. Warilla had something breaking in front of the clubhouse. Port had bugger all and blown to bits as you'd expect. M...

McKee set up. What's the big deal?
I think the idea is that it's a quad that surfs similar to a thruster. Smaller gap between rear fins, unlike fishy style quads with rears way out on the rails.

Could be wrong. His website is cool from memory

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

That was awesome. That's really the type of wave for a fish. Same as fast breaking beachies with a bit of length to the ride. I'll spend the next week pining for a mcneill now!. Worth having one IMHO

You had a go on one hatchy? A keel fish? You'd love the drive and carve

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yeah I got sucked in by swellnet, which claimed there'd be light NW this am, but it was just more S and chopped up. Not to mention the dead low tide meaning a close out inside and a burger outside behind a gutter

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Watched one out at port, weekend, people swimming in the flags. Wobbles right into the flags, turns and goes and falls flat as soon as he catches the wave, sending his barge flying. Stunned! He copped it big time from the lifeguards. Stupid thing is, there's at least a km of beach he could've had to...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I like the twinny feeling but I've never really tried to master the full twin feeling. I had a MR mega twin but rode it with a trailer and the Quartet is a twin with two trailers. Just got a little tax refund, was going to put it towards a holiday with the kids, think I'll buy some Rasta keels inst...

Re: Midlengths

Massive fan of Devon Howard, ever since I came across the clip of him on that right hander on the orange 7'2 egg. I like him too but it's not remarkable surfing. Do you think? That's why I like it. From my perspective, he has a graceful smooth style that is achievable to almost any punter that can ...

Re: Midlengths

On small fins. I have a JD 6'2" stepup. Went on a road trip to sth NSW last year and only wanted to take one board so that was it - just in case. Took some tiny fins for smaller days. PG3 in the rear, quad rears in front. Haven't changed them back. Not ideal for smaller days, but more than surfable...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I'm sure there'd be a real surfer who'd lend you some if you were keen to try them. But yeah, some people don't like them, others harbour secret shameful feelings about smooth carving drive and swooping turns.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Or, god forbid keels! The blurb on board cave mentions keels for small days though the front boxes look a bit far forward. Might be fun as.
