Playing with images in post is fine but you need a well exposed shot in the first place. Photoshop is not going to save your butt or make you a pro.

1 more tip with the breathing is to keep 1 eye in the water and do a sneaky breath from under your arm pit. Man have you ever paddled over to Box head from palmy for a surf? I have on my ski. Also paddled the 20 beaches and up to terrigal. There is more to do out there than just ride a surfboard. I'm probably the clasic beginer longboarder your all talking about.
