Re: Ripping off Dane Reynolds.
I just got my hands on a 5'11 x 18 5/8 x 2 1/4 Proton Low or "Pro-Low". Apparently this will be one of channel islands new models next year. The board had quiet full rails and low rocker. I have only surfed it twice but it felt amazing. Great speed with the low nose rocker, felt as though you can ge...

Re: Roundhouse cutbacks
Well said nc, pretty acurate description of the things I'm doing wrong, especially with turning too hard to early, weight on back foot and coming to awkward near stop. Be interesting to see how it will go now having conciously thought about what I need to change

Roundhouse cutbacks
I am pretty average at roundhouses, I must admit. Especially on my forehand. I usually find that I will choose to stall a bit to do an off the top or I will do a standard cut back finishing with more of a hack/burying back foot. My question is, are round houses a 'style' thing or an important functi...

Re: Bobby Monster - Looks fun
Apparently the bobby monster goes a lot better as a thruster.
Interesting to note that at small shity mundaka and Sopelana bobby was surfing on a squash tail thruster....

Re: Portugal looks the goods.
Haha I was in Peniche/Baleal last year. And got a random job at a German Surf School. The surf culture in Europe really is hillarious...the surf instructors were all German..and only a few of them could actually surf, yet they had like 50 german guests at a time learning to surf. All they did was th...

Re: rob bain
Yeah he majorly gashed the side of his head. Apprently on a rock...looked like a pretty bad cut.
But I think it all took so long due to precautionary stuff...
Spoke to his son and apparently he is ok...
Scary sh*t though
What news was it on?

Re: Quad with Thruster Option
Yeah will go the quad option.
I want the quad to surf top to bottom as well as possible given the design...
Dimensions so far are 5'9 x 19 3/8 x 2 1/4 Rounded PIN.
Im liking the idea of the rounded pin..similar to the DHD bobby monster..

Quad with Thruster Option
Thinking about getting a quad with thruster option for my next board ie centre plugs included. Its a pretty trivial questions but I was wondering if surfing with the quad set-up and having the centre plugs empty would have much effect on drag or water movement etc... just seems a bit weird to have 2...

Commuting northern beaches to north sydney
Alright I know its been done before.. but who here lives on the Northern beaches and commutes into north sydney/city for work? I will soon be changing from a very flexibly job in Mona Vale to a career move decision into North Sydney. Has it forced you in becoming a weekend warrior? How do you feel a...

hmm I could do that. But I wanna cut down from the 18 1/2 a bit..
How much do you think the swallow would compromise surfing top to bottom, vertically etc..

Time for new board - 6'0 squash or 5'10 swallow?
Im getting a bit over my current all rounder. Had it for 1.5 years and still in good nick and it has been to Indo, Hawaii and France! Amazing! Im wondering whether if there is a better option for my every day board on the NB as apposed to my regular 6'0 x 18 1/2 x 2 1/4 rounded square? Im 5'9, 74 ki...

Re: bullied by a girl
I think having a little bit of a tiff in the surf is inevitable for everyone.. I remember a guy who I had never seen before drop in on me wave after wave, when I questioned him he completely blew up at me saying I snaked everyone by simply paddling out in the rip at the wedge. He reckons after paddl...

Re: danw's WCT 2009 thread
I think Kelly's board looked to small.
Everyone just gets excited coz they are bored with seeing people on 6'0 rounded squares (which seem to work fine for 90 % of the tour)..

5"9 & 71kg
Ride a 6'0 x 18 1/2 x 2 1/4 rounded square.
Next board I am thinking of going a little narrower so maybe 6'0 x 18 1/4 x 2 1/4 rounded square.
