Re: Whose Life is it anyway
Hey Reginald - DK gets driven up Barrenjoey Rd, pulls over in every car park up to N.Palm Beach, gets driven back down again, pulls over in every car park, ends up surfing at N.Narrabeen. That just about covers it for the northern beaches. I loved the part where they drive down Mona Vale Rd and see...

Re: Fat cats gettin' fatter
I always have problems finding good quality boardies with no logos or small logos only.
The ones available at Target or Lowes are of pretty bad quality, and the RippaQuikBong ones are just a logo with some fabric around.
There sure is a market for decent boardies without logos...

Re: Lord Howe Island board hire
Thanks for your reply.
You have a good point, but the airline told him they would carry his board "subject to load" so he wasn't sure what to do.
Have you been to the island by plane? Did you find easy to carry your own boards?

Lord Howe Island board hire
Hi
Some friends of mine from Europe have booked a Lord Howe holiday in mid November.
One of them is a keen surfer, but it's difficult to carry surfboards to the island.
Does anyone know about hiring boards on the island?
Thanks!

I was in Patagonia last year, and I met a couple of Euro guys just about ready to go home after more than a month spent in El Chalten trying to go for a climb on the Fitz Roy. Well, they complained to us that they had used up all their leave, and spent all that money, and not only they could not cli...

I remember going to a "meet the writer" interview with Tim Winton a few years back, and he said he always copped a lot of heat for his endings, expecially "The Riders"'s. He half joked saying that he's not very confortable writing endings. An old woman literally abused him, it was funny. He was the ...

I came in from a surf on Saturday late arvo, the surf was not big but not small either, solid I'd say, but quite choppy and with a lot of water movement and rips. I was sitting on the beach at DY relaxing and watching the waves, and Grazza's story came back to mind, as it really hit me when I read i...

They were already talking about it back in 1998 while I was living in UK...I can't believe they are finally building it. They had the Bournemouth pier photoshopped with huge hawaiian waves in promotional fliers...hilarious. I wish I had one of them to show. The October 2008 swell reference may be th...

Interesting thread. I'm more or less your age and in a similar situation (and probably less skilled than you :x) I've checked the SA website and the camp seems great, but it's on during the school holidays so it will probably be catering for people 15 years or so younger. I know there's a great surf...

I've spent 2 months travelling in Peru and Bolivia on and off the beaten track not long ago and I loved it! Don't listen too much to people saying they've been mugged etc. You obviously have to be careful, expecially in the cities, but they are pretty safe countries overall. I found Bolivia super sa...

You're right sorry...I took it for the main beach because I didn't see anyone on the beach at Los Lobos a part from surfers! Did you see other spots around? Someone told me that Bucalemu is good too, and according to some Chilean guys Buchupureo (about 250kms down south) is a fantastic place...I did...

Hi Bendoor, thanks! I recognize your pic, that's Pichilemu's main break...it was good when I was there too. I was there after the school holidays, so there were no tourists and everything was super cheap. The crowds were minimal, the best day wavewise was a Sunday and there were about 8 people in th...

Hi
I stayed here at the start and at the end of my trip:
http://balihotels.com/kuta/barong.php
It's quite nice and convenient, right in the centre and about 300m from the beach.

I wish I had your riding sensitivity nicknack, or do you think we all do just aren’t as aware of it until we get onto something that say lacks the same flex? I've just been surfing for f**ken ever. I do reckon everyone feels the same basic things in the boards they ride, it just takes less or more ...
