Re: Joel Tudor Wins Another World Title

I was hoping Harrison Roach would win the title but he just didn’t have the flair of Skindog. Joel was practically taking the piss during the final just floating around and I have to say playing the system perfectly by just going switchfoot through any fast sections while standing in the middle of t...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Other hodads, Yuke. I’m still somewhat surprised I have managed to score as many satisfying surfs as I have over the lockdown but it still does my head in.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Who made the waves :-D-:
Yep, pegged that correctly. You Hodads can’t imagine how good it felt to have a peak to myself after surfing with 200 people every surf for the last 10 weeks.

Joel Tudor Wins Another World Title

Malibu Comp seemed to suit Joel. Cruising. A fair bit of floating around.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Woohoo, hit the Bra again this morning before the wind came up. Had a little fat peak to myself that kept running into a zippy shorebreak. Stoked.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Had a flounder around at the Bra. Pretty lame but I got one okay one. Could have gone for the head dip on the inside bit but I went for a Torren Martin back arched caress of the descending lip instead.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Most of the old stagers are happy to score a couple. Mid 20s fitness levels and a log are a deadly combo. In crowded surf obviously the person with the most skill and highest fitness should have the pick of the waves. Unfortunately that often tends to end up being all the waves. Particularly if they...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I was happy to take this approach with my youngest yesterday until 4 longboarders paddled out and took every lump that looked like breaking. So after watching him catch nothing for 15 minutes while they had heaps, I started giving him a hand and pushing him into a few and dropped in on the longboar...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Particularly when the parent is a pretty competent surfer who takes them inside everyone to get priority and loudly calls them onto waves. Not to mention pushing them onto waves you have priority for as well. Great training.
Seen this at Snapper and The Pass not to mention Bondi of course.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Parents pushing their little kids onto waves in crowded surf gives me the shits too. If the kid is good enough to ride the wave let them catch it as well. If they aren’t then get them out of the main break and let them learn to stand up. Surfing version of helicopter parenting.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I’m a bit with GST on the finding yourself through wild swimming at one of the most affluent beachside suburbs in Australia. Nippers gives me the shits actually. His wank pretty much sums up why. Yes, yes, I know the positive benefits of cheering your little kids on as they compete with each other o...

Re: Midlengths

Steve’s article covers the transition stage when midlengths first developed but he misses the brief resurrection after the 70 World Titles in Victoria. Nat was riding 5’10” square tails. Wayne Lynch was on about a 5’6” double ender and Rolf Aurness won on about a7’6” from memory. It was also when a ...

Re: Midlengths

There’s a guy who’s got about an 11’ Munoz tuflite out at Bondi. Second one I’ve seen out there over the years. He gets a lot of waves.

Steve’s article on Swellnet covering a fair bit of ground discussed on here. Not sure if Nick would approve of the sentiment though.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Went out at Bronte yesterday. Howling offshore and the sunny day quickly turned into a storm approaching. Breaking a bit too hard in places. Caught one in and decided I wasn’t up to battling it out for another.
Went out this morning for a few fast little tiddlers before the wind got into it again.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Went out yesterday. Crappy and pretty rippy. Nice and sunny though before afternoon storms. Looks similar today. Not sure if I can be bothered having another bash.
