Re: Where did you surf today ?

Well yesterday made up for the last three surfs I had at Bronte. Floundering around catching nothing. Just had to be philosophical and enjoy the view. Yesterday was just a classic little surf day. Got plenty of waves. Good vibes in the water. Happy with how I was surfing.

Such exciting news beans! You should be stoked.
Dude, I’ve had multiple BCCs and a melanoma cut out of my back plus regular sunspots burnt off.
So many young guys are wearing bucket hats in the surf these days you don’t stand out as much.
Still hate wearing hats though.

Re: Sun Screen

I’m actually pretty stoked I haven’t had a sunburnt nose or sore eyes all summer.

Re: Sun Screen

The big beef is about some ingredients effecting coral reefs. Zincs good for your skin if anything. Some stuff burns your eyes but that’s got more to do with the stability of the ingredients than the ingredients themselves. Soap burns your eyes too. No way is using sunscreen more dangerous than not ...

Re: Sun Screen

Who remembers bullfrog. It was like superglue. I’ve got a big pump pack of Le Tan. I put some on every time I go surfing. Banana Boat was pretty good too but they had a bit of variation between the different styles of bottle. Followed by Tan Zinc on my nose. Just stopped wearing a hat or cap since t...

Snapper Comp using Surfline Wave Face Measurement Scale.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Nah, we had booked a place at Rainbow Bay. I was trying to work out if it was going to overlap with the comp. Anyway we got our money back. Might have been overlooking Jimbos pad.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Much higher risk of not making a set wave. As opposed to a guaranteed high point wave.
Fcuk I’m glad we canned going up there. We would have been staying in the middle of the comp zone.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

There was a commemorative thing happening down at Bronte. Local Pollies, Life Savers and old Diggers. Some Clubbies were handing out rosemary. We commemorated with some home made ANZAC Biscuits.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Went for a swim at Bronte. Surf was pretty crap and the SE Wind was starting to get into it. Guy walked down with a square nosed twin fin that looked about 5’ nothing. Watched him stretch and paddle out. Went in for a dip and by the time I was grabbing my gear to go for a shower he was walking back....

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Makes sense to me. Everyone rabbits on about hand shaped boards but properly foiled fins have always been a better bet than moulds.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I had some Shapers fins in my Quad. Snapped one jumping off at McKenzies. Found a AM that was about the same but it never felt as good. They don’t make those Shapers fins in original FCS System anymore.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

The confirmation bias could be you two thinking we can’t tell the difference. (I don’t know, as I said, I haven’t swapped out same template with different constructions) I think it’s more about the difference. I’m sure it can happen but the degree of focus and the access to high quality boards and ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

There’s a dude I talk to occasionally down the beach who is constantly buying new boards, fins, etc. Given his ability he would have a much better time and catch a lot more waves if he had a midlength.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Buddy is a competent surfer though. Half the suckers wouldn’t have a clue. Also I guess if you are prepared to put the time, effort and cash into comparing fins you could fine tune your craft. I've just got a big bag of old fins and finding a set that match is the biggest challenge.
