They are pretty close to banning tobacco smoking. Good luck if you think decriminalisation is around the corner :o

Do you think the addictive craving part of bonging on is more to do with nicotine withdrawl than the actual dope in the mix :?:

I still kind of miss my old 89 Magna Wagon. It was such a tank but you could chuck all your junk in it and not give a stuff about salt water damage, sand or bashing into things. Plus it was as cheap as chips. Your right though, Johnno about those 4x4 Vans. You still see them kicking around unlike ol...

The other thing about the old alpha male personality issue is whether this just happens because one surfer is dominant because of ability or that some personalities just want to dominate anything regardless of ability. Your classic alpha is a goal oriented control freak who will try to control any s...

I'm really talking about extreme wide tailed keel fin fish here like Dick Van Stralen appears to be making. I think the general move towards wider fish style boards is a good development. I am just a bit surpised how quickly some people jump from one extreme to the other. Why a very average surfer t...

Weird Boards and Short Arse Surf Stars

I was looking at the latest popular extreme design : seventies style twin fin fish. It makes me wonder how many average surfers get much value out of something like that in an average Sydney surf. Sure if it suits your style and the style of waves you ride; a fast small point or if you hate cutbacks...

Snaking and dropping in  You mean like the rest of the surfing population given half a chance. You should read some of the comments in the other forums :? . If its breaking hard and hollow no mercy for anyone. If its breaking easy and full: oh those horrible mal riders are catching all my wav...

I was talking to a guy at work who has just bought a mal. He asked me if I waxed the nose up on mine :D
When I told him I did he said the guy in the surf shop had told him not to
We discussed it and decided the guy had given him a bum steer.
They're very helpful in some surfshops

Don't expect much respect if you don't give any. Here is another situation I have seen in the water. Old mal rider makes a point of paddling as far away from the pack as he possibly can. I am not talking here about just sitting a bit outside of everyone. I am talking about a long way further out in ...

These guys didn't surf. I guess they were looking for something as good as surfing is.

That clears that up for me. I have never seen a D fin for a fin box. How much pressure would that put on the box? I've got an old reverse D fin I ripped off an old pig board I used to ride ten years ago. Never got around to putting it back in since the board is something of a write off with lifting ...

A favorite bit of Hot Generation has B McT & Russell Hughes (I think) surfing.
The very ABC/BBC Narrator says above the psychedelic sound track:
"Bob and Russell are turning on"
