Re: Just general surfing stuff

Tracks was first published in October 1971

Surf culture was just slipstreaming a generation.

I kinda expected it but was still a bit surprised by the long-interval feeling behind it
Could be another one of these pulses on Wednesday, very dependent on wind angle in the fetch up north, sadly might be in thew face of sse winds though.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Swellnets calling it 1-2ft and not really worth it. Thankyou Swellnet. I surfed consitent chest-high Narrabeen doing a mini impression of D’bah with bugger all out. What time was that? I tossed up going that far but checked Manly to Longie early without seeing anything worthwhile so wrote it off an...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

There are three separate video recordings of the incident involving Mark and Jodie at Lennox, they'll come before the court and I'm sure they will be widely seen following the hearing. If you read my reply to Beanpole above, you will see that I did not write "thousands and thousands of incidents". I...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

No I haven't. The research has nothing to do with my surfing experience. The blunt fact is that there are many many thousands of people surfing in Australia who are having an entirely undocumented experience of the thing, and who are entirely unknown to anyone on this website. Increasingly these tho...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Oh I should add that it's no good relying on your own observations in the surf when trying to assess this issue, I am fairly observant in the water and I haven't seen any overt male aggression toward women surfers at all. I've heard some dumb shit said about women in the surf but never seen it play ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Well, judging by "Annie*, also in her mid-30s, has experienced plenty of verbal abuse" and "Briella*, 24, is a highly skilled Sydney surfer who says she had “dealt with just heaps of sexist crap throughout the years" and "Byron-raised surfer and University of Queensland lecturer Rebecca Olive says ...

Rob Machado has lovely style. Is style underrated today?
Not if you consider his endorsement contracts, Rob’s been pulling vast fortunes for over a decade based solely on that lovely style

Re: Just general surfing stuff

https://www.swellnet.com/news/swellnet-dispatch/2018/09/18/not-surfing-drowning 20% of surfers self report that they cannot or are weak swimmers in the surf. Must be a large foreign contingent I'm guessing or older surfers who don't live near the water who dabble now and again. That’s an underestim...

Re: Wave models

Don't rate Windguru Nick? For what? The source info is available, why look at some stupid graph? So you know there’s gonna be a southerly change? That’s got fcuk all to do with what the surf is gonna be like, ie what swell will be generated toward your coast. The best day of surf in the Sydney regi...

Re: Wave models

Forget the stupid on site reports. That’s not forecasting. If you want to know what will happen in Bali in several days’ time, look at the real time MSLP charts for the distal Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean. They will show you the actual winds which are producing the swells that may or may not stri...

Re: Wave models

It's shit, all of it, cheap offshoots of source data, clumsy and badly graphed. Actual good surf forecast sites like Surfline spend a lot of time and money both accessing directly from NOAA and ECMRW and on carefully writing and re-writing their own interpretive software. They do crazy shit. They're...

No argument re long range swell but to say it doesn’t break at 8ft is complete twaddle.

Re: Mentawai quiver.

Carroll proven get again that even though he has dedicated his life to surfing, he is still a bit of a kook. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a fcuken cnut. Lil bro christened that spot on a 7’6” Parmenter widowmaker, I surfed it quite a bit in the late 90s, it’s a deepwater reef as p...
