The bank I surfed in yesterdays offshore fanned perfection was a freight train to the white massage room today.

So much swell, so little time.

John Howard's skills shortage is the new Bob Hawke surf team.

Get skilled, take the day off when ya want.

It might actually be easier to haul the Pasha Bulker OVER the dunes and into the harbour ... although that would depend on what is under the dunes.

The way the lagoons have been flowing over the last two weeks surfing some 100% salt water would be different. There is something about all the silt and fresh in the mix that makes the water surface just that little sharper and harder.... hack, hack, sniffle, cough.

South Narra always cops the worst but North Avoca and the Terrigal\Wamberal stretch are looking pretty sketchy at the moment. All the big rocks getting exposed are what was dumped last time the sand went out.

The point was 3 to 5ft, the outside peaks around 6ft and bigger down the beach. Of course ievry now and then the sneaky boomers came through but the point is a very protected wave, hence the crowds. The rocks and rip make it all a cake walk. The swell was nothing on last week.

There are a few "local blokes" amongst that lot. The really funny thing ...... I was walking back out to rock off again and stopped for a chat with a mate and noticed the TAFE photo class huddled on the rocks with all their gore tex gear (looked like a bunch of lost skiers) and I thought to myself ....

There where 4 Gore-Tex clad "photographers" standing on the rocks on Sunday. It looked like TAFE photo club central in the same vein as amateur bird watchers shooting starlings in the shrubbery It was clear as the day wasn't that none of these "photographers" actually surfed. Don’t ya all wish the “...

Tom Carroll = bloody legend. In a time before DVD many where the cinema nights spent watching TC carve up meaty slabs of ocean with the finest display of power surfing seen at the time. For me as a blondegrom, TC was a surf idol that existed on a higher plane than even Lopez. We all get shit in life...

How's the Haven looking on this angle? It looks a lot like windswept lumps of watery brown doom with more foaming soda than a Tony Aboot SMH column. The Haven boats are getting blown back on their chains by the wind howling through the skillion and the Dive boat, which is the furthest out is taking...

The Real CC lagoons emptied out this morning but with the swell and surge they are all full again. Not much sand left under the Pines and the rock off is pretty gnarly 6ft side\off shore in the corner, 3 guys out, T point looks like Backdoor pipe and A point has surfable waves in the rock pool. Tudi...

I remember both swells like they where yesterday. That is what happens when you are a teenager and see sights you cannot even begin to imagine. In 1976 the German Bank, the real one way way outside, not the one the youngsters talk about was throwing back in the offshore and closing out the whole vis...
