I've got the Quiksilver DEEP 300 tide watch. Got given it at work a couple of years ago so can't complain. Tide info is spot on but the thing's pretty hefty. Later models might be lighter. Worth considering if you like the look of em.

The biggest straight-hander on the northern beaches - Freshwater Lived in Freshie for a number of years. Yes it was more often than not straight, and fat, and crowded with kooks but on its day ...ON ITS DAY!...it was pretty good. I've had great waves on the left near the pool with a couple that end...

Use a towel!...that is brilliant. Here's me using a hair-dryer like a idiot. Thanks everyone, now I won't don't have to park on a hill every time I go for a surf. And I'll save a fortune on wax too.

Dino - the paddle out was a lot more intimidating standing on the beach. I actually got out the back relatively unscathed and was even thinking that this was all too easy.

Re: No wave surfs
I guess you know your getting too old Grazza when you catch someone red-handed stealing your board and you "growl" at them instead of ringing their freakin bell. Grazza this could of been a story of regret, a eulogy even for the death of restraint and the loss of composure to the heat of the moment...

January is not even over yet and already we have a serious contender for the 2009 Putz Post Of The Year Award.
First prize should be a public self-inflicted uppercut.
Actually make that all nominees should do that, first prize wins a date with Princess Bradley B Ruff.

nothing ironic about it Ringo... the google fueled advertisements on these forums have some sort of algorythm that searches key words on the page and then populates the banner space with advertisements it deems as relevant to the page content... in this case, it's using the words 'arab' or 'arabic'...

Hmmm...I'm not so sure Duke. No doubt there'll be swell, but it'll be overlayed with a howling SE'er and raining to boot. I know we haven't had decent waves for a while but are we beggars yet? Rain?? worried you'll get wet mate? Ok so maybe not a Rod of Thor! would you believe a Samson's semi then?...

long range calls are normally as reliable as a fish-net dinger but this map here for next Tuesday has given me a rod of Thor for Thursday.

No thanks I have a hard enough time time hanging onto a fin key or a bloody wax comb. The pre-surf ritual would go from a quick rub with a dirt encrusted clump of Dr Zogs followed by a bit of cross-hatching with a snapped twig to something out of The Matrix. Schick, schick, sssschick, schick. ...and...
