i can't wait for aaarating's review of Proust."...interesting but not unique. you would be surprised how many other young Frenchies have done pretty similar stuff over the decades and eaten a dainty baked good with their cup of tea only to then remember they forgot to buy loo paper while down the sh...

Re: Be an art critic
Blue Poles! Now you're talking. Not fake at all. Pollock just got shitfaced and chucked paint around, extremely well indeed. Needs to be seen on the wall to truly appreciate. See, I can't understand how art and measly words can go together - its about perception and emotional response. Totally subj...

Re: Be an art critic
what makes it great? i don't need to tell you, you saw it yourself....it's boringness is what makes it so great. it's a scene of utter desolation and uniformity. war has stripped the earth of all life, human or otherwise. it has even stripped the scene of all earthliness. war has stripped the scene ...

Re: Be an art critic
Perhaps the identity of the photographer may give it some symbolic meaning. I remember seeing one of the earliest photos taken in the NSW Art Gallery. It was as boring as Fcuk. Just a grey rocky plane. The site of a major cavalry charge. Crimean War, 1855 'Valley of the Shadow of Death' by Roger Fe...

yep, that's him. he does know that wave. i wondered why he was taking so long to paddle back out after each wave, then watched him, and realised i was making my left turn way too early. he was staying close to the rocks most of the way in and getting much longer rides.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
i had to drop the GF at the airport yesterday afternoon, so put the board in and went to maroubra. it was crowded as all hell on a hot saturday afternoon. but damn it felt good not to be a bronte. i paddled out at the north end, everyone was sitting in close on the low tide. so i went out the back t...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
couldn't sleep so thought i might as well go for an early surf. i really didn't choose too well today. If you were at Bondi the only choice is shitty closeouts. I can't believe how the surf there has been so bad for so long. tama/ bronte was no better. didn't even take the board in, just went for a...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Uv resin + clear sticky tape to conform to the rail = save a heap of sanding time. Only for small dings though. Only got 2 poly boards now so don't need to do it very often. it's pretty damn satisfying how well that works. couldn't sleep so thought i might as well go for an early surf. i really did...

Re: New material for surfboard bottom
good point. anything that encourages tow-in surfing and also allows piss-weak paddlers to catch more waves has to be good for surfing.

Re: New material for surfboard bottom
that would make a faster board, right? i spend enough of my time as it is having to do cutbacks just to make sure i don't outrun the wave. this would just make it worse.
