Re: Just general surfing stuff

Surf Forecast is giving Lennox zero out of 10 for the next 7 days. Hope this helps.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Speaking of evil places you don't ever want to be, the most frightening place I've ever seen, one that literally sent a chill up my spine, was Secrets at Ulus on that big day earlier this year. At 8am I was checking it, no-one else around, and a giant set, the biggest in about 20 years was stacked t...

Don't understand why they don't just make a decent midlength that works well for 80-90% of surfers.
IMHO the 7'-8' McTavish Carvers are as good as you can get.

And WA is the worst. When you take into account the surfer population it must be at least 10 times more likely for a surfer to be killed by a shark in WA Shark attack attacks/deaths prevalence by Australian state since 1988 - 2018 New South Wales 156 7 Western Australia 81 18 Queensland 83 9 South A...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Surf forecast said 2000kj three? Days ago. That was their forecast. It was out by a factor of six compared to the reality on the day. Magic Seaweed wasnt much better. Three days out is pretty close to the event to get it so badly wrong. Not so Godsave? Surf Forecast is definitely pretty bad at pred...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

What’s your beef with bonzers Cranked? There was a clip of Taylor Steele about a year ago on a bonzer, everyone thought it was great but all I saw was someone forcing a board that didn't want to turn in a tight arc into turning, it was jerky and disjointed, no flow . It was like a dancing bear, its...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Channels. How do you find it compared to a thruster ? Lacks the instant acceleration but has way more flow. A few times ive blown bottom turns due to poor technique, i reckon on a thruster, you can get away with errors and recover far easier from poor positioning. If i was a ripping surfer, i think...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Woke up for a dawny at the Point with my wife. There were van loads of euros hanging in the car park checking Magic Seaweed, which had majestically called , I dunno, seven and a half feet or something. Maybe 9 feet. Surf Forecast had said 2 thousand kilojoules. It was one foot rock break. pretty mu...

I like beanpole.
Beanpole is the soul of realsurf, the quiet achiever who clocks up all those hours at those iconic oz surfing beaches on whatever surf craft is appropriate for the day.

I think provoked/unprovoked is part of the stats that have been captured just about forever.

Re: Quiver thread

I was just browsing the guns in the Drifter store at Uluwatu. There were lots of guns by Pyzal, Brewer, McNeal, Lopez and others. But what caught my eye was a 9'3 by Kimo Greene from Sand Island Surfboards. It was thick, guessing 3.75", flat deck, down rails and a full length rounded V bottom and fi...

True. I've got it in a narrow range now, and the Winged Keel is a bit less critical and easier to ride.
