Re: Where did you surf today ?

three very enjoyable and exhausting years. Where did stay? That would have been a great time to live and surf around the bukit. Even 10 years ago it was pretty quiet around ulus. There was only a handful of places to eat and hardly any nightlife, now development is exploding. Banksy got his 25year ...

Big Balangan was my favourite when I lived in Bali 20 years ago. Left a little skin off my back and legs on the reef trying to get barrelled on the end section too. Have you been watching those "Surfers of Bali" videos on YouTube, Beanpole?
How long did you live in Bali for Al?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yeah it's pretty shallow, even with some tide. I rarely surf it but have noted that I'd need to develop a good knowledge of the reef layout before I could confidently surf it.

Legion just got home from there. It was fun, amongst the closeouts.
Yeah, really I would have gone out if I could have. Maybe in a month or two.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I've been wondering for a long time now why they put the "carbon" fiber on the deck. Carbon fiber is much stronger than fiberglass when its in tension but not that much better than glass in compression, so shouldn't it be on the bottom where it will be more in tension than compression

It's a place I've often thought of going to but never actually pulled the pin on. It'll be good to see what you think of it when to get back.

I couldn't sell mine for a quarter of what they cost new. And they're good shapes. And they're new condition. And they're nigh on indestructibile.
Thank god they are all too small for me legion otherwise I might have been tempted as I really like his construction

Re: Where did you surf today ?

On the other hand......Nick, unlike everyone else on here, rarely paddles out without knowing someone. Guess it's a novelty. It’s not. I’ve had many surfs like today, like bombing 6-10’ plus days here in Sydney by myself. This was the first time I experienced the feeling of it being a weird, feral ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Perhaps we could solve this by having a logarithmic scale where, say, learner/beginner is 1 degree of ability, intermediate is 10 times better, and pro 100 times better. Self assessment is, of course, not acceptable
