Re: Where did you surf today ?

A more southerly swell today, only a few out where I surfed, sets just over head high, sunny and glassy.

The Bonzer seems to ride more like a single as the waves get bigger and faster. Which is a good thing, as the Bonzer Biscuit was touted as a small wave groveller.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Nice and quiet at a near-Ulus break this morning. Perfect long low tide for it and only a handful out. Waves were inconsistent chest high, water glassy and crystal clear. Great panorama of volcanoes shoulder to shoulder as the dry season smog is starting to lift. I discovered there's a few small hol...

Anyone who has ridden Tuflite McCoys for over 20 years is totally immune to criticism of their choice of surfboard.

Re: Midlengths

Haha! Was out with Jim at one of his favourite spots this morning. He was trying out a 7' single. I was trying to talk him into giving the 5 fin Bonzer design a go. Head and a half and it was going pretty well. A few guys commented, in and out of the water, how easy it was for me to paddle into the ...

Re: Bonzers

Ive got some big glass twin fin keels at home, I'm gonna cut them down so they are like the Bonzer sides and try them on my Beau Young FAW

At the moment I'm using it as a 2+1 with a 7" centre and 4" sides. It's got a huge deep concave right through it

Bonzers

Has anyone had any experience with 5 fin bonzers? I am quite surprised with mine. It feels quite different to what I expected. Singles, twins, thrusters and quads all have a unique feeling and so does my 5 fin Bonzer. It's a totally loose drivy feeling that I really like. It accelerates fast and smo...

Re: Midlengths

Ha! I've seen it before. It's got a big shark repellent box laminated into bottom of the board.

Re: Midlengths

I've only surfed it once. No depressions yet.

I do have a tail pad and that prevents/disguises all the duck diving knee depressions though.

Supposedly 2 fours on the deck and one on the bottom, but it feels way heavier than that.

The contracts for drum lines and net operators require them to be cleared every 48 hours at least so it's not all that likely sharks see their captured friends.
Do you have any theories about how or why they seem to work?

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Ahhh Nick, anthropomorphising sharks was a joke. But there does seem to be significant effect from drum lines and netting even when few or none of the target species are netted or take the baits. They could do a trial removal and restoration of netting of Sydney beaches to further evaluate this hypo...

It seems most likely the orcas scared away the whites in False Bay too.

And I have just ordered a 6'10 Vish.... Should be ready in a month or so
There's a few guys I surf with absolutely dominating the lineup here when it's big on their 5'6 or so twins.

A 6'10 sounds about right for me. There's just too many boards out there that I would like to try
