Re: HIRT

A Q&A: Hrvoje1 year ago What is the duration of rest periods then? And can we apply the same for high intensity resistance training? Reply jacob1 year ago The duration of the rest is different for everyone. You rest until your heart rate drops back to normal, you can breathe normally and feel you ca...

Re: HIRT

A bit more info. (There's two different HIRTs, this is from R=repeat) https://www.marksdailyapple.com/hiit-vs-hirt/ Marker explains that there’s an optimal duration for sprinting where you can obtain maximum benefits with minimal cellular destruction, and this is typically around 15-20 seconds. Try ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Bought a couple of touring kayaks. So that’ll keep us on the water. There’s actually a sailing club out there. But not my thing. Kite surfing looks too complicated. Too many ropes. I agree, but if I was bored and there wasn't anything else to do I'd give it a go again. I tried it for a while after ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

How about kite boarding BA?

2 boards, 2 sails and you're good for 10-35 knots.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

SUPs are more a bicycle equivalent Why foamy? Couldn't find any Oz stats but there are 8.5 million mountain bikers and 3.5 million surfers in the US https://www.statista.com/statistics/763737/mountain-non-paved-surface-bicycling-participants-us/#:~:text=In%202019%2C%20the%20number%20of,amounted%20t...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

you're getting further and further down the rabbit hole of bike wanking. just stop. riding a bike is a form of transport, a means of getting from a to b. it has a utilitarian value, it is easy to learn, easy to become competent. Mountain biking is an offshoot of that. Because a man can ride a MTB d...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

yeah when the are pushed in. 99.99% of people who attempt it can learn to ride a bike competently. Thats because it's fcuking easy. I'd reckon conservatively that less than 1% of people who attempt surfing become competent. Thats because it's fcuking hard. Most don't get past going straight in the ...

Re: HIRT

That is extremely interesting Steve. I've been doing HIIT training for swimming, running, push-ups/pull-ups, but mainly swimming. For swimming I'm doing 4 laps at medium pace then one at 100%, repeated 4 times. I get slower and slower and more exhausted after each rep. But it seem using HIRT instead...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Ummm the number of people doing it is not relevant to the difficulty. The number of bike riders in the world is probably at least a thousand fold or more than the number of surfers. I would warrant that nearly every person in the world had access to a bike before the age of 10. I've seen videos of b...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I think that is an appropriate position to take on a surfing forum, no? No. Riding 1' of whitewater on a 10' mal is the equivalent of just riding a bike. Jesus fccck, trying to compare riding a bike to someone learning to paddle out in average conditions, paddle onto a wave and trim across open fac...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

So you're going to arbitrarily define a certain skill level before you acknowledge that someone is actually "surfing".

Re: Where did you surf today ?

steve you're just showing your limited range again. lol, every Cnut on earth can ride a bike. bad choice of subject matter to demonstrate "limited range". Everyone who can ride a bike can surf. 10ft mal, 1' of foamy wave, riding prone... you're surfing. But really there's a range of skills for both...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Lol.

Exactly, you should just a ride a decent size board, 99% of surfing is standing up and going straight, not that pathetic wiggling stuff all over the wave face
