“Didn't even know about waves at Snapper or Green Mount.”

mm, didn’t you ever look seaward when you travelled the short distance between Kirra and Duranbah?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It has been very sectiony lately. It breaks a bit further out so I guess the banks are less stabilised by coastal structures. That may be nonsense. There were some Kirra days in 2013 and 2014 when it was lined up and firing with long classic Kirra. As good as anything I saw in the 1970s.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Worth watching the start of this vid for good drone footage of Slater’s Kirra tube ride which has been on high distribution this week. It plays the tube twice which I guess saves you from rewinding it.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I scraped my shin on a rock in the surf once. I did nothing special to it but it did take a long time to heal. Possibly a couple of months.

Re: best surfing movie ever

Stu Nettle did report on Swellnet in 2020. Stu Nettle Reels Sunday, 5 April 2020 In 1984, three surfers from Dee Why, Bill McCausland, Graeme Bennett, and Gary Mountford, started a company to make surf hardware. Their first product was the Rocket Block, basically a block of plastic you stuck to the ...

Re: How is wave height measured in Australia?

I’m not arguing with reality, Steve. I’m just giving the reality of the Surfline surf height preference settings as stated on a Surfline web page dated a few months ago. I thought it was of idle interest as you talking about Surfline. See link below. I wasn’t arguing any point, Steve. You seem to ha...

Re: How is wave height measured in Australia?

On the Surfline website you can select either face height or traditional (1/2 of face height) as your preferred wave scale.
The default in Australia and NZ is traditional (1/2 of face height). Face height is the default in the rest of the world.

As anybody ever been able to identify and track down the specific great white involved in a deadly attack? Plenty have tried. The vote sounds like political theatrics to me.
