Re: Midlengths

For easier display, I’ll imbed those photos. It’s a fun board comparison. After switching to longer boards over the last year from 6’0s and below performance fishy types these are my two go too’s now Both 7,2. and same dims - Vouch Evo single for cruisier smaller days and the Simon Jones Massive cha...

Re: The Tulla Tub

Went to the tub today. Had a sub par session but the whole experience was marred by a serious customer service fail. The siren for last wave had gone everyone was lined up for their waves, when about 10 people who I assumed where the lifesavers swam past the line of surfers to the take off zone and...

Re: The Tulla Tub

The creative thing about Waco is that they didn’t seem constrained by thinking they should closely mimic regular ocean waves.

Re: The Tulla Tub

The Tulla tub looks a short fun wave. What makes it good is the number of waves you can get. Steve wrote that he rode 42 waves in two hours. You are not going to get that at the beach.

You can watch it on the Langland webcam on gowerlive if you’re that interested. Should be fairly chunky on Friday
I did watch the Langland webcam on the day. It was a bit chunky, but I must say the surfer behaviour was mystifying.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Those waves do look like tiddlers. Pretty though. But I agree, probably far too cold to bother with for us spoiled Aussies.
In east coast Australian conditions, you would go out for a relaxed scenic paddle, but that’s while you are waiting for some swell to arrive.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Get away with what?
Saying it’s awesome being a good surfer?

Well, if that annoys you, Nick wrote a whole book on the subject.

“The Complete Guide to Surfing Your Best - Vol 2 : Advanced surf skills and knowledge for all surfers” by Nick Carroll

You could buy that book and be super annoyed.

And it will be a learning experience because little AJ’s first comment will be, what the fk is a mile*?

*I’ve from the pre-metric era, but I have heard this comment made by a few callow youngsters aged under 50.

They’ve got an indicator dye in the pool which reacts with urine to form a bright orange cloud.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Growing up, it was some classic shots through the pandanus of surfing at Crescent Head that gave the spot its somewhat overrated status. We would stare at the photos for hours. North Coast dreaming. Like this one. Ed Cornish Crescent Head 1965 https://i.imgur.com/1xHyylN.jpg The photo is from Bob We...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It’s an interesting story that during WW2 Bob Hope and a group of fellow entertainers had to crash land on a sand bank in the Camden Haven River at Laurieton. It was a wild landing with the plane almost somersaulting. That night Bob and his colleagues put on an impromptu show in the Laurieton School...
