Re: Bells Beach

Because context is important. Because, when you say, “Most of the surfing was simply awful”, it’s a bit like saying, I've been looking at those winning mud runner kilometre split times and I beat them at the local oval last Saturday just doing a few laps! It doesn’t help that, when you are paddling ...

I don't reckon GSTQ fully understands how difficult those conditions are to surf.

Re: Bells Beach

I'd be surprised if it's young people that watch the WSL. From my experience, some young people might follow surfers on instagram, they might visit an event for some celebrity spotting, but they are not going to sit and watch WSL heats because it's BORING. That’s the reason the surfing stars might h...

Re: Bells Beach

“We are on hold while we switch to Winki Pop”.
Dread words for any viewer.
If they are there, it’s because the swell is too weak and inconsistent for Bells. And that higher camera angle makes the manoeuvres seem even smaller. Wonky Pap.

Re: The Coolangatta Gold 2019

My daughter went to D-bah to observe a bit of the action. She 'watched' the last women's heat. You couldn't see them. They were almost around at Froggys. Invisible. There were a couple of jetskis that indicated their location. There was no big screen showing the action. The air heat started. She mov...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Apparently, pre-1971, there was a popular left-hander at Kirra. Stu Nettle said just about all of the old Kirra surfing photos he's found are of the left. Bob McTavish said in one of his books that he somewhat missed that left. It was round about where Coolangatta Creek comes out. https://i.imgur.co...
