Re: Just general surfing stuff

Nick, I don't know why this surprises you.

I reckon there would be less than 500 surfers in Australia comfortable in heavy 10-12 foot waves and probably most of those would live in areas that get 10 foot plus way more often than Sydney does.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I prefer the "I'm a sook and just too scared of big surf" line.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

There is just simply too much low/zero consequence dross to sit through to pay for it. This. Don't care for the no losers round 1 or 4. Don't care for Brazil or the French leg. Unless its pumping, Margs and Bells are average and/or only a few surfers can adapt to those waves. Too many meaningless h...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

NC, Kraig.

The possibility of the tour behind a paywall? Does the WSL think there are that many people keen to cough up to watch an event?

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I actually quite enjoyed this comp...I know my opinion is a bit biased because `i was getting paid to write about it but I liked the compressed, continuous format ( a rarity) so you could see surfers build true momentum .....not this stop start thing we normally see. I also very much enjoyed the di...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Apparently Teahupoo has run and finished.

Was this the most anonymous surf comp of all time? First I knew it was on was a vid on SMH saying Wilson had won.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I found a spot over there with good fishing, amazing produce, good surf and close enough to an airport. Unfortunately it has worse weather than Sweden and the inhabitants share a set of teeth. yeah enzed is the kinda place you visit, not live. it's like tassie only with that whole lord of the flies...

Re: Ears

Only thing I've tried so far is the hopping on one foot to shake it out. I bought some swimming earplugs (speedo brand) but lost one on my first duckdive so wasnt prepared to shell out again to find out if they worked.

Might try the eardrops first to see if they work.

Ears

Never used to have problems with my ears but starting maybe 12 months ago, i can guarantee getting water trapoed in my ears at least every second surf, if not more often.

Does this happen with anyone else? Is it an age thing? Anyone tried various earplug options?

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Hmmmm. I surfed at lighter crowd DY yesterday. 2-3ft. 6'2 board. Probably about 10-12 waves in the hour. I ain't flash. 50 years old. I think the longer heavier boards take a toll on the body after 30-40 mins and reduce wave count. IMHO. Same. Stunned at how low the crowd was for mid-Saturday morni...

Let's see. That twinny of mine was like a rocket on those waves this arvo. The 12 mil deep single concave gets things cooking down the line.
I've been meaning to ask if the concave that deep makes it track?
