I'm surprised they don't go back to GLand. The one in the 90's was awesome.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Dawnie at Longie. Saw an emptyish peak south of the lugga. Looked reasonable among lots of closeouts elsewhere along the beach. Got changed, headed down the path to see the boardriders tent set up at the base of the dunes with the peak already claimed.

Shoulda gone elsewhere.

Re: princess margaret river pro

One of those odd times when the needs of a heat just don't quite fit the best essence of a location. I don't think it's that odd really. I rarely watch a heat at J-Bay and think the "needs of a heat" and the judging criteria+ modern equipment is doing justice to the wave. OK let's play a ...

Re: princess margaret river pro

JJF instagram has the casual carve to backflip to casual ride out of it all at what looks like the Margs right. So critical yet so calm.

Re: princess margaret river pro

The Box was great, watching a bunch of goofies struggle until Owen just went deeper and got it done. And Mellings wipeout was epic. As for Margs, having surfed it and being an average surfer, it's a hard wave to surf well. The small ones are still big, the big ones are huge and you're a mile out to ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I surfed Cables, the one in Perth years ago. The problem was it was in a fairly protected stretch of the metro area and didn't see as much swell and considered a failure. I always thought a series of them in Perth, say 5 or 6, stretching from swanbourne to floreat or south Scarborough would improve ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Shearer, I must say that sounds a bit like paranoia.

No waves in the closest (very crowded) populated centre, it stands to reason anyone would drive an hour down the road to find waves. Swell travels further north and more spots turn on, the crowd spreads out.
