Re: Margaret River Pro 2018

The turning point was a few years ago when they neutered the one-manoeuvre Hail Mary. Although well intentioned, all it actually did was usher in blandly homogeneous rail surfing across the pack.

Re: Easter Classic 2018

Rubbish. You have a transparent, enduring and unshakeable affection for the form. You are like one of those poor mutts that vivisectionists used to chop up who would sit there through the agony, licking the hands of their foul tormentor in dumb unquestioning loyalty. It's why your articles are such ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I dunno Nick. JJF has always struck me as having next to no competitive nous which, when combined with the average and unthreatening waves you get in the first two comps of the year, effectively neuters his most potent weapon - a vastly superior skillset in technical, frightening surf. As to the res...

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

Don’t overthink it beany. They’re surfboard shaped surfboards that ride pretty much like any other surfboard. Width and thickness make them a stable platform and the soft rails mean they’re pretty forgiving. I’m not terribly convinced that the emperors new dome brings much to the party but they’re c...

The women are still light years behind the men though and the men’s event, as a spectacle,is pretty tedious. Can’t believe many people are watching more than the odd five minutes of the women’s

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Fitbits etc provide the same illusion of competence to the amateur runner as multiboard quivers and a-finset-for-every-occasion do for the low intermediate surfer

Soon as it's pumping here all the cardio guys with their HRM's and fit bits seem to go missing, I guess keeping the BPM down is a big comittment.

They're Decathlon's own brand. Some stuff is ok but the wetsuits are pretty bargain basement

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

My old RC ultimate elasto back zip had a poppered dog collar that would keep the batwing nicely in place. You could interchange it with the poppered hood if you were so minded. It is entirely consistent with my cost cutting hypothesis that this option should no longer be offered

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Any return of the back zip will be solely driven by the desire to maintain profit margins as cheapo new entrants drive down retail prices. That there appears to be a marginalised demographic of angry tetraplegics incompatible with the vastly superior chest zip is just the icing on the cake for the w...

Re: Strahan tassie

This is just glorious Realsurf action. And it's not even 2018. Handel's Water Music needs to be playing. There need to be dueling pistols. And seconds. Now who would make worthy seconds for these two gentlemen? Godsave's, obviously Loofy. Shearer's, probably dayrl. Loofy can't even hang his own tel...

Oh Australia, how needy you are. I know you want it to be special, steve. Different, somehow. But really, your USP is the weather and even that seems not so terrific when you examine the facts rather than the tourist brochures. Friend of mine, spent a year in Sydney. Said the waves were shit the who...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I think godsave should join me on the bukit for a solid bali surf trip. I can show him the uncrowded spots and we can both wow the locals with the superior ability bestowed upon us by the magical lazor zap. Go with Cranked, Goddy. He has this "priority" thing they're all talking about, all sewn up ...
