Re: R-TAK
So different from your original design Ric. Completely different tail configuration. thruster now instead of quad? Any video re performance? Glad to see you're still pushing the boundaries. Hoping you got the Virginsurf Christmas ham holiday bonus I sent you. P.s. my son's been riding a 5-6 Tomo an...

Re: R-TAK
Been thinking and reading about tomos for a long while Rick Reading your ride report and looking at the pics it brings me back to the wakeboard you can paddle analogy ? Read or heard a thing more recently with Mr Slater talking about board length and a major part of the info I took away was once th...

Re: R-TAK
Dims only really changed in length. Now 5'11", ride is fast, feels like the fastest I've ridden. Slices through cutbacks with the really fine rails that I thought may be a problem.

Re: R-TAK
Literally four years on… it did get finished, but how it changed! Got somewhat changed pre glassing etc. Thanks to Tomo-inspired design no longer a pintail, etc, etc, and this is the same board I mislaid recently at Dee Why. The fifth plug knubster is the most recent inclusion and ridden only once s...

Re: lost surfboard (Dee Why)
It's a sign off1, time for me to move on, kind of just mirroring life.
I'll scratch out another one day, make it the VII model, everyone has models don't they?
Profits of Virgin Surf are in a turmoil, might see if we can sign up Dane or Baldy…

Re: lost surfboard (Dee Why)
Indeed it has been a while S-Man, and funnily enough the board that I lost was linked to one of the last threads I started in the design area. At the time it was my first machine-cut board and started it's life as a pintail with a rounded nose, but it never got finished in that guise. I intended to ...

lost surfboard (Dee Why)
How do you lose a surfboard? Easy… rest it on your bumper bar, get distracted by other 'stuff' going through your f'd-up head and drive off WITHOUT stashing your board first. Yes, that's me folks or how it unfolded, yesterday (Wednesday 27 April) Dee Why Beach car park about midday pretty much in fr...

Re: Jetstar
Used JS a fair bit over the last couple of years both domestically, internationally and will again tomorrow. Never had a problem, if you conform to their rules and that isn't that hard. Sometimes it's worthwhile weighing up the price difference between them and a 'full' service airline, say Garuda t...

On another note, must say not only is the quality of JD's workmanship as good as they appear in the photos, the packaging for transport is first class. Let me loose with a box cutter… Ric, ric! Careful! On one of mine I got too impatient and in my haste scored right through the outer skin i...

No thoughts of a late season jaunt to really test her out Ric. "Svelte" eh - and she looks just that!!! :-)( And practical 3-) Of course, J-Lo, did you sense me passing on Monday as I headed back down to Sydney? I really don't know where I reside these days. 'Jaunt' I hear you say… of course, back ...

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
I acquired a wide tailed, what I would call more traditional planshaped, Tolhurst quad fish as a bit of a domestic traveller to comply if you will with Jetstar. Quite a rail-based fin set-up with the board… came issued with MR fronts, M3 (centres) on the rear. No provision for a centre fin and being...

Didn't know the person but always sad to hear such news.

Re: For the board junkies. My next new stick.
Are tints easier to repair colour wise than a painted blank? I've never owned one. Lots of variables, JET, some people confuse tints with pigments, then there is single colour versus the freeform 'marble' type effects. Most dings are over-painted after the repair. Hence they always look different, ...
